Has Vijay's time come and gone?

The lilly seems to be off the rose from just a couple of years ago when he was winning like crazy.

Has age finally caught up with him to the point where his best has come and gone?

Opinions pls...

I think he only won 1 tournament this year, right?

I think he needs to slow down. I hear he plays every single tournament there is on the PGA tour schedule.

Years ago, that may have been fine but I think as he gets older, not sure he is able to recover properly from that kinda of non stop play.

I am not too certain, that age has anything to do with it.
I was watching the Champions tour yesterday, and a lot of guys were shooting in the mid sixties for their first round.

Those courses aren't set up for PGA style events, tho. Much easier.

I would say age has alot to do with it. Just look at how much time Vijay puts in just to stay where he is. He's had two wins, a second place, 6 top tens. That's pretty good playing. Not like he was a few years back, but that was a pretty hard year to top, even for Tiger. He's averaging $200,000 per tournament, not too shabby for a guy who's 44 years old playing against 20 year olds week in and week out.

Didnt realize that.
I still think that someone like Tom Watson, could still hold their own in a PGA event though.

I don't. You know why? Because he's playing on the senior tour. That's why Stadler left, that's why Funk left, and why Faldo left. They all said they had no chance against the PGA style setups anymore.

Norman just left entirely as he didn't want to play unless he was competing against the best. That, and he's a gazillionaire.

My friend who is a local divorce lawyer is pretty well connected with other divorce lawyers across the country. It on the board of directors, committees etc.

He knows Norman's divorce lawyer and said his wife is going to get somewhere around $100M from him....he's that loaded....

Not surprising. Considering what he spent on that dingy of his.....

With clothing, his wines, golf course construction and his name alone, the guy is rolling it in, with or without the old bag around. And, his dot is with Sergio Garcia, last I heard.

That's pretty sweet. When I first was getting into golf, before I left it for baseball, The Shark was always my favorite.

Oh, I forgot the main post. I've been saying it since last year. Vijay's time is over. He's still awesome, but you won't see him leading the majors much, if ever again.

Although i remeber Faldo only coming back for 1 event this year, im probably wrong tho, maybe im thinking that because he did well in it. PGATOUR.COM - Smyth leads Senior Open Championship; Faldo, Watson slip

Vijay through? I

do not think so. He is in far better shape than many, many of the players out there. He can play better than they ever dreamed of playing. I think he will win until he is in his fifties. Stadler won when he was fifty, and he was good but not Vijay Good. I agree that Vijay might need to play fewer tournaments. If I were him, I would only play if Tiger was in the tournament, and a well-rested and fit Vijay can compete with anyone. CP (That's my story, and I am sticking to it.)

I do agree CP, and I think he can win. But he is past his prime, they will become fewer and fewer.

CP, I think this is the shortest post i've ever seen you write!

And I agree with everything you said too

Vijay is still one of the best players, where again is he ranked in the world?

I agree, its the same old story with Vijay. He goes as his putter goes, his ballstriking is always there, but his putting is not. When he was winning all those tournaments he was putting lights out...not so much anymore...
