Old Scorecard Tip

Ever have a thought or an idea in your round that worked? Somewhere in my round, I might start to have a swing thought or idea that works. I sure did in my last round! (I'll get to that later). Anyway, so let's say during your round you try something new that is improving your shots. What do you do? You play the rest of your round with the idea, and sometimes it works great, and you have a great round, and you tell yourself, "I have to remember that for next time."
Then you walk to your car or 19th hole, confident in the permanence of your improvment. After all, the idea felt so good, worked so well, and now seems so obvious, you think it's now part of your swing.
What happens next time?
You go right back to your regular swing and forget all about what you realized last time.

What I like to do when I have such a thought, is when I'm putting my gear away, I take my scorecard for the round and write the thought down. One or two words, or a short phrase is all it takes. Then I put the card back in my bag, where I'm sure to see it next round, when I replace it with the new blank card. THen I know what it is I want to think about and work on.
Maybe the new idea doesn't work as well as it did the previous time anyway, but at least I didn't just forget all about it.

Oh, on my card from last round I wrote:
-GRIP DOWN
and
-HIT DOWN W/BUTT

Sure worked for me yesterday. We'll see next week.

An old instructor of mine said to carry some index cards in my bag. Use them to write one or two positive thoughts down during a round.

Do I do it? Hell no. But it's a good idea.

Yah, I write myself notes after a round all the time. I just have to make sure it does not become analysis paralysis.

Well, I always keep my scorecard in the same place on my hand cart. The thing about writing your notes on my last scorecard, is that I'll be sure to see it next round when I get a new scorecard.
I can write down all sorts of brilliant ideas on index cards or scraps of paper, and then who knows what happens to them and I forget all about them.

The best positive thought you can have on a course is to expect bad shots and feel good when you've hit on,its one less you are gonna hit
