Spin

I supposedly have a very low spin driver, but I often find that on a dry day, I will get 2 or 3 yards of roll, and on a wet day, I will find the ball several yards behind the pitchmark. Is there any way to reduce this spin without reshafting? Sorry if this is in the wrong section. It could be a swing issue or an equipment issue, so I was unsure. Thanks for any help.

Just speaking from personal experience, I have seen very few that get any roll on a wet day where the drive creates a pitch mark with the driver. More than likely I see it back up or end within a foot or so from the pitch mark. I am just guessing this as a result of the conditions and not the spin from the driver. I get the same effect myself quite frequently. I think the ball is likely backing up as a result of impact and not spin.

Agreed with above. Probably not the spin but due to the impact. Are you by chance hitting the ball really high? That's my guess.

Thanks, PA. I was curious because a friend of mine has a 905S with a V2 and he consistantly gets 10 or even more yards of roll, but he hits his driver quite a bit higher than I do. And like I said, even on dry days, the most I get is 2 or 3 yards. I usually have a fairly penetrating trajectory, not that high at all.

His angle of descent is probably better than yours. Nothing against you specifically, but, that just helps with more roll.

In fairness, on wet days, I don't go anywhere either. On dry, I usually get about 15-20, sometimes more.

Hmmm... I will ask my pro how to flatten the angle of descent next time I see him. Thanks everyone.

Sounds like the ball may be ballooning on you a little...you can have a pretty good looking trajectory but if there is a lot back spin that ball will not go anywhere when it lands. Are you hitting down on the ball a little bit maybe? Have it tee'd really low? Or like Jeff said...the shaft.

It might be ballooning, but it really doesn't look like it. And I definately hit up on the ball. I have a ul540 in the J33R right now. Maybe it's too tip soft?
