Indacup question about spining

When using a spining tool the butt of the club is even with the last bearing. Therefore we are reading the aggregate spine of the beam of the shaft where it exits the tool. Right? Is the average of the beam spine what is important or is a particular area of the shaft of more interest. Is this why some recommend floing after spining? Is that going to make a difference? JB from jb spine tool suggests that it is more accurate to set the spine AFTER the club head is temporarily mounted with the shaft loaded in a vertical fashion. Opinions?

The spine in most shafts tends to run pretty straight throughout the length of the shaft so IMO spining from the butt end is fine. I put my shafts in the spine finder, place them under load and allow them to spring to their neutral bend point. I then flow them in relation to this spot to get it exact. Then I allign that point ot the target. IMO NBP should always face the target, leaving the spine either on top of or on the bottom of the shaft. This allows the shaft to bend in its most comfortable manner towards the target, while the spine helps to minimize toe droop.

Lyle, this is I thought. Also the hands are effectively clamping the shaft to create the beam length but I was not sure.

JB is now on YouTube so you can see exactly what to do with the spine finder....

The spine tool in vertical position movie is excellent.

Nice find on those videos Augster! I have had the tool for a while now and it was reassuring to find out I had been spining my clubs correctly.
