My swing is getting so much better

Something just seemed to click a few weeks ago.
I came to the realization,, that I can only hit certain irons so far, and thats it
As long as I dont try to hit it farther then I know I can, My contact is so much better.

Topping the ball is the thing of the past, for now.
I'm also getting better lining up the shot, and I hit much less slices, or shanks.

I guess confidance is a big big part of this game.

Thumbs up You're gettin' there!

Sounds like your game is coming right along.
It's amazing how well you're doing in just a few short months!

I also find that if I just relax, and not try to kill the ball I usually make better contact and have somewhat better accuracy.

Confidence, I would imagine, should help your game.
Positive thoughts are always a good thing.

They tell me that golf is more mental than physical,
I believe that.
I must be mental for playing it!!!

Great improvement man, if you just don't stress out, you can see the results.

congrats. always nice to see people improving. although i can hit my driver and FW pretty far (sometimes) my irons are short. this is maybe because my irons have weak loft (some as much as full club), but also because i try not to go for it and let the club do the work. so my typical 7i is about 155yds, but w/ tighter disperson. every since i got over "oh i gotta hit my 7i to about 170yds just like ez w/ his 7i," i've been in the 80's more consistantly.

I don't hit my 7 that far, unless it's delofted out of the rough or something.

Good job Tn-Golfnut. This is something I'm finally figuring out after almost 5years, so you've got a big headstart. I'm trying to pick a club, trust it's yardage, pick a target and simply make the swing I need to in order to hit online with that target. How hard I have to hit it should not even be a thought, I have the club that goes 155 and it's only 148 to the front of the green. Good stuff man.

Even if it takes an extra shot to get to the green, it is still better then shanking it, or slicing in the water, or high rough, and then it would take maybe 2 or 3 extra shots.

I think that after a while of getting used to hitting like this, distance will eventually come, as I get more and more confidance making solid contact.

I think its time to take the next step, and start working on shaping shots.
This should be fun to learn.

When you learn to shape shots, you become a GOLFER....you can do most of it with your foot position...that's the good news. You don't have to change your swing....
