Question Right hand slips at impact... regrip?

Hi all...

I've been practising my golf for about a month now (driving range only) using a set of RH Skymax Ice IX-1 steel shafted irons (6i - SW).

Recently i've noticed that at impact my right hand has a tendency to slip a little, sending the ball off target. I'm swinging the club within myself so i don't think i'm going at the ball too hard.

Also, although i have medium sized hands i'd say, the grip feels a little thin. I'm wondering whether i might benefit from a re-grip to something like a Golf Pride Jumbo Tour Velvet Grip (1/8" Oversize Outside Diameter) which appears to be thicker?

The grip on my Alien Tour Wedge is thicker and it feels and handles great. I think something like that on my irons could be a solution.

I should also mention that i'm noticing this more towards the end of the practice session so perhaps hand fatigue has something to do with it as well? Nevertheless, the grip still feels a touch thin IMHO.

With your advice, i might get one club re-gripped and give it a try.

Any thoughts?

Chances are that after only a month of playing the problem is your grip, and not the grip. Have you gotten lessons? How did you learn to grip the club? For reference, proper grip size is when the tips of your fingers barely touch the fleshy part of your thumb pad, but this is only true if you hold the club properly.

clubs have sweet spots. if you hit it right, the club face will not rotate during impact. if you hit closer to the toe or the heel, you'll notice the club face turning, especially w/ light grip pressure.

and yes.. lesson. it's a good thing
