Thread: Golf ball color

    Golf ball color

Anyone play a Volvik crystal ball? A week ago I found a green one. Why would anyone play a ball that nearly matches the grass that you're trying not to lose it in? Yesterday I found an orange ball. It was lying in the middle of a bunch of orange maple and oak leaves. I wouldn't have found it except I stepped on it.

IMO If it ain't white, it doesn't belong on a golf course. I would probably maker an exception for orange in the snow though.

My wife plays the Precept Lady S III's and the Noodle Ice colored balls because they're prettier. She does not like playing a white ball.

I don't argue with her because on her good days she hits those "pretty" balls about 220-240 off the tee with a slight draw. Like they say, pretty is as pretty does.

Funny story: We're playing #12 at our home course, a straight away par 4 with a grove of trees (woods) left and #16 past the trees, a straight away par 5 running the opposite direction. She tags her drive about 210 down the left playing a pink ball....we can clearly see it as we head for it. A couple of guys come over from 16 (you can easily go through these "woods") and the rider gets out to address my wife's ball! We drive up and point out that it's hers...he argues the point! His playing partner then sheepishly says "he actually plays the same ball, same color....sorry for the misunderstanding." They find his in the trees.

We still chuckle about that one when we play that hole.

  3. I miss the days of premium colored golf balls. I loved orange golf balls. All the premium balls were offered in white, yellow, and orange (yes, even Titleists); today the selection of colored balls is very lmited. If Top Flite ever decides to go orange on the D2, I am all over that.

The orange ball stood out on the course and was easier to find if it wondered off of the fairway (expect in the fall up north.) More importantly, it was easier to follow in the sky. With certain sky conditions, I lose sight of the white ball when it gets above tree level and can not see where the ball lands. Never had that problem with the orange ball.

For me, the most visible ball is the bright day glo yellow. Especially in low light conditions. I also sometimes have difficulty picking up the ball in certain light conditions, but I won't play a colored ball. Just a quirk I gues, maybe a holdover from my mini golf days.

Jerry Pate played an orange ball on the PGA Tour back in the day... won a PGA with it, iirc.

Nike Mojos have some funky colors, as do the previously mentioned Noodles and Noodle Ice's.

My kids love them. Perhaps that is why I don't. If they ever made one that spun worth a crap (i.e. Maxfli Tour Fire, Revolution, or more spin) then I would play one occassionally, I suppose
Scotty Cameron Studio Design #2 with a Red Baby T grip overwrapped with 7 layers of tape, the correct Screaming Yellow Headcover and SD Pivot Tool, rubbed with the oil cloth after each round, slept with when the wife has a headache, and touched with the finest Egyptian White Cotton gloves ONLY, WITH the gloves on the correct hand to offer the putter maximum comfort, unless at the course, in which case it gets to touch the ground and the ball before being whisked carefully back inside the cover.

I only play the white balls with two red stripes on them. You can find lots of them at certain areas of the golf course. Bucket fulls

Yeah I found a green one too. Probably the reason why it was "lost".

If anyone finds a good place to get orange balls please let me know. May come in handy this winter. I don't want to have to use those ugly yellow range balls. :real angry:

Lost balls in 2009: 1 (and counting)

  10. The Nike MoJos come in a crazy blood red color that projects right through winter conditions. I would suggest this as it is actually not a bad ball. Also make the Pro Platinum Blacks, very few of them though.

I see alot of women and children using colored balls, I use to like neon orange or yellow because they were for me to find. Now I pretty much use white. In the leaves they're all a bitch to find.
When asked how to put back spin on a i7,
Trevino said how far do you hit it?
The guy said 120yds and Trevino said why do you want to back it up?

  15. No colour of golfball other than white (and its usually a slightly off white too) is any good fact, they are usually topflite rocks, molitor bricks or pinnacle paper weights. Prov1 for me or nothing at all.
