Decide the Matches for WorldWoods!

Well as you know, Eracer, VtDivot, Ualtim, Wirehair, FuzzyJr, one of Eracers friends? and myself will be doing a little weekend outting in two weeks. Now we thought it would be a good idea for you holy and fair shottalkers to come up with the games we will play. I was hoping we would be able to come up with some fair teams and arrangements to really not have to hand over 10 strokes. Im not sure what kind of format we'll use, but thats for you guys to decide.

Feel free to post possible games, take bets, poke fun, and most importantly heckle Eracer the most.

If you guys have any ideas, please post them up.

I've my dosh on VtDivot. He learned a lot after playing with me. By now I think he can finish it out and collect the cash. He's a bit of a Playa!

Good luck to you all. I'm actually in the US that week and coming back home from Vegas that Friday. Would loved to have stopped off via Florida. But alas even I cannot swing that one with Mrs. IG.

Hopefully I can handle the pressure. I needed to take a few days of relaxation and meditation beforehand to get myself ready for the big matches

I think we should play a modified stableford - handicapped, of course.

8 for eagle of better
4 for birdie
2 for par
1 for bogey
0 for double
-1 for triple or better (pick up after triple)

I like 2 man teams, paired as evenly as possible.

Then you play a best ball match play using the low hcp as the stroke standard.

Example if Me and Eracer were playing Tim and Crossfire, everyone would "play off" Crossfire and get strokes on holes determined by course handicap

I like Eracer's system where I get points for Bogies.

Lyle picking me? I always knew there was something wrong with that guy's thought process....although he is a Red Sox fan so I will have to let him get by with one.

I like VT's idea with a twist. 2 vs 2 combined with a 4 vs 4. Each foursome plays 2 vs 2 with each other and then each foursome plays 4 vs 4 against each other.

lol - it's the 29th thru 2nd... not the 3rd (in case you were serious about joining us) - although I think everything has already been set and it may be too late to add anyone. Eracer would have the details.

Serious mistake. I'm widely recognized as the crappiest golfer on ST. But if Andy Jackson is burning a hole in your pocket, send him to me.

Here is the format our traveling group has used for years....

1) Play an overall individual championship over the course of all the rounds you are playing. Use the Stableford system. Example: if you are playing four rounds of golf over a two day period, each player is playing against the field with the goal of achieving the most points over quota during the four rounds. Bet $5 per player and pay out 1st and 2nd place at the end of the final round.

2) Concurrent with this, play two man-bets, one round at a time. Example: If you play for two days and play two rounds per day, set up different two man teams for each round. This way, everyone gets to play with everyone else during one round as a partner.

The first round, play a two man best ball stableford using pairing set 1 e.g., Crossfire and Eracer, et al.

The 2nd round, play a combined two man stableford using pairing set 2 e.g. VTDivot and Eracer, et al.

The 3rd round play a two man best ball (again) using paring set 3, e.g., Ualtim and Eracer, et al.

The 4th round play a combined two man stableford (again) using pairing set 4, Wirehair and Eracer, et al.

Bet $5 per player per two man wager and winning team takes all - to be paid out at the end of each round, which is usually at lunch or dinner when the beverages are flowing and the players can describe their rounds...

The total amount wagered per player is $25. This is your 'entry fee' and is collected at the beginning of play. The two man bets are paid out at the conclusion of each round and the individual championship is paid out at the end of the final round, 1st and 2nd place.

This format rewards the individuals who played the best during the entire event, while giving everyone a chance to play as a partner with everyone else (as much as possible) in a two man wager....

Try it, it is not as hard as it sounds and if you set it up in advance, it becomes simple. Make up your pairing sheets and have one for everyone so they know who they are playing with when you get ready for the next round....which bags to put together on the carts as you are teeing off....
