Weird feeling.

Came up to the seventeenth hole here at Cypress Bend (the one in La.!) which is a cute little downhill shot over water (a little sliver of Toledo Bend, the fifth largest man-made lake in the United States). I took out my 54* Mizuno wedge which usually puts me in the middle of the green. I made a good swing, and the ball was about seven yards short of the green! No one around, so I put down another ball and again was seven yards short. Another ball, and again, seven yards short on swings that seemed about perfect. Totally confused, I put down a fourth ball and this time the shaft broke in the middle of the club and the clubhead end went flying at the lake!

I have no doubt that the shaft had to have been damaged somehow in a way that I could not see the damage. That was what was causing the mysteriously short shots. It was one weird feeling. The wedge will be back soon and I have improved hitting full shots with my lob wedge in the 54* absence. There is, indeed, a reason for everything.

The club fitter at the shop where I got my clubs believes that moisture might have done some damage within the shaft. The shaft is a DynamicGold Superlite with Sensicore. He says that these shafts have had this problem at times. Still, I want the same shaft back in that club because I really think a lot of that particular shaft. Yes, I put such a shaft in all my irons including all wedges. My logic was that on pitch shots, it did not matter that much which shaft was in the club, but on fuller shots, the wedges would swing more like the other irons, which they do. And I do like the lighter shaft which seems to make the weight of the clubhead a little easier to feel out there on the end of the club.

I once hit a Powerbilt 5-wood (about the third shot with a brand new club) and had the head go flying about a hundred yards. That too was a weird feeling. In both cases, thankfully, the companies involved repaired the clubs at no cost.

I too have had a few break like that over the years. Luckily not near a lake though. It does feel weird when the head comes off and you have a steel wand in your hand.

Aye, Ive snapped a VS Proto about 10" from the bottom of the grip. I could see if i dropkicked the drive, but common. But that convinced me of tour edge customer serivce. Took it to a shop for them to look at, they called TE, and told them to give me whatever I wanted off the rack for free, and to send the club back to them. They also then sent me a handwritten letter appologizing.

Same thing happened to a buddy with a rapture/VS 3 times! Each time, Ping took over a month to get him fixed up.

The PGA Tour drug test results are in.

The good news is your sample tested drug free. The bad news is.... you're pregnant.
