  4. I have a Wii (don't say that every day) and have played Tiger Woods on it a few times and it's pretty fun. The short game is a bit frustrating to me because several times during a round it's like it don't gauge my backswing right. But all in all I'd say it's worth getting.

    Merry christmas, man

I've played it on the Wii, all my shots are hooks and I can't make a putt. Just like in real life.
    Insert hilarious golf-related quote here.

Currently not using the driver. The 3 wood is long enough.

is there any big difference from the regular golf game to the Tiger Woods?
As for the hooks and slices it sounds pretty realistic to me:laugh:

  8. Are you talking about the golf that comes on Wii Sports? If so, that game is pretty fun but if I'm thinking right (haven't played that one in a while) I believe there is only 9 holes on it; 18 max. There is a lot more variety on Tiger Woods, but you get the other one free when you buy a Wii. There's also another titled Hot Shots Golf. I've never played it but I've heard that's it's pretty good as well.

  9. Wii Sports Golf comes with the console. Its pretty fun, but as already mentioned, only has 9 holes. While initially fun, you will get bored with it terribly fast if your trying to simulate golf as your only equipped with a driver, one iron, a wedge, and a putter. Great for family gaming, but not a great golf simulator.

Spend the $50 on Tiger Woods 2008. Much more realistic and you can bag a full set of clubs. There are some great courses on TW 08 that will put you to the test. I find the motion on TW 08 more realistic than Wii Sports, and the putting is significantly better. More importantly, a poor swing on TW08 will result in a poor ball flight. While it is still not a true golf simulator, it is as close as your going to get for a $300 outlay.

The hardest part now is just finding a Wii concole for sale.

Hot Shots is better than it initally looks. But TW is the king of console golf games.

  11. I got TW 2007 for the Wii for $20. It is a very good game and quite realistic.

With the included "Wii Sports Golf", as said above, there are only 9 holes.

I DO like the putting on Wii Sports better though. It is matched exactly to the greens at my course. I never look at the meter when putting. I just see that it's a 30-footer slightly uphill, I close my eyes and stroke it a few times to get the feel, then press the A button and stroke it. Tap-in most every time.

I couldn't putt worth a lick on the game looking at the meter and the screen. Once I focused on the feel of the roll, putting became quite simple. Not surprisingly, I also had my best year putting on real greens.

The TW2007 greens are a bit faster and more "Tour Realistic" for speed.

In Wii Sports golf, I never bother with a backswing and swing it one-handed to control the meter. It just doesn't pick up the swing correctly most of the time, and anytime you are out of the meter, which it will be EVERY TIME with a full swing, the ball just goes crazy and it's impossible to score.

TW 2007 has much better clubhead recognition. You can actually make swings and feel your holdoffs etc. to cut the ball or turn it over hard to hook it.

Either way, it is quite fun and a really inexpensive way to get some swings in while snow is on the ground.

  12. I did an article on the TW 2007 for the Wii at my blog.

Just don't drive a real golfball into your prized flatscreen like the guy in the commercial who tosses the controller when his buddy shows him how realistic the game is and tells him to throw a fastball.

The wife and I got hooked when we played Wii Golf on a cruise ship last month. Once you try it, you'll want one. I have owned gaming consoles since I met my wife, and until we got the Wii, my wife never asked to play video games. I still find it stange when I call to tell her I am on my way home from work when she asks if we can play video games when I get home. The Wii is just plain awesome.
