Stand up if you clean your clubs!

I was just reading another thread where a few members suggested that they don't clean their clubs. This is blasphemy to me, but I wonder if I'm the one in the minority? I keep my clubs shiny and new-looking all the time. Not only do I love the way they look clean, but I KNOW having caked up grooves is bad for your game.

Raise your hand!

I want to clarify my not cleaning clubs comment. I will use the club washer on a course if they are available & I do keep my grooves clean but thats about it. If the bottoms get dirty or marked up I don't care. I am not going to come home from the course & spend X amount of time cleaning areas of clubs that have absolutley no effect on play.

I clean mine before I go play, usually the night before. I also never have dirt in the grooves. I carry a groove cleaner on my bag and hit the grooves before every shot. Hey, I'll admit I'm a little anal about my clubs but I don't have a nice car to wash... my clubs are the nicest thing I own.

I always make sure the grooves are clean before a shot and generally try to wipe off the big stuff, but dirty clubs are happy clubs.
I do like to keep wood crowns clean and shiny - smudge marks or anything like that distract me when I'm over the ball.
I brought my clubs in from the trunk monday night + cleaned them last night - kinda sad but the weather just isn't cooperating (plus I ho'd a new 6 iron

usually only after a muddy round.

I clean them about once a month otherwise... if you saw the state of my putter you'd realize that keeping them clean isn't my #1 priority

I keep the grooves clean all the time. I have a brush hanging on my bag which I use before putting the club back in the bag. That brush and the towel keep the clubs pretty clean. A couple of times a year I will do a full clean with a bucket and a tooth brush, but as long as the grooves and sole are clean I am a happy camper.

The only exception would be after a muddy round where splatter is everywhere. I will do a full clean after that kind of round.

I clean them good every month or so and keep them clean by wiping them off with a towel and using my brush on the grooves (hangs on the bag) after each shot. I hate ratty looking clubs.

The bag is hauled to the basement shop after every round. Clubs are sprayed with a soapy water and cleaned with a soft toothbrush... wiped clean and "spoken with" as to how they performed that particular day. During decent weather, a jug filled with water is carried behind the seat. Before the round, I wet an area the size of your fist on the towel hanging from the bag. That damp towel helps keep the clubs clean during the round.
I have a couple of rags in the basement that are saturated with WD-40. If I've played in rain or in excessive early morning dew, the clubs are all wiped down with the saturated rags. This leaves a thin film of WD-40 on the clubhead whichprevents any rust from forming. (No, my BeCu Pings won't rust. But this is a habit I developed back when I played forged blades. Have continued the practice.)

Hear, hear. I can't stand a dirty set of clubs sitting around the house.

They never spend time in my trunk. Not that my car's clean, but it's just bad on gas to have an extra 50lbs in the trunk when you're going somewhere other than a golf course.
