Storing golf clubs: Best place, worst place?

Where do you keep your golf clubs between rounds? The garage? The basement? On the roof? Which place is best for them and the grips?

I always tell people that golf clubs are comfortable wherever people are comfortable.

If you aren't comfortable in the trunk of your car or in your garage then don't store your clubs there either.

Trunk isnt the best place for them, but that is where I've left mine all summer the last two seasons. Although, my "trunk" was the back of my Ford Expedition, so it wasn't as bad as an actual trunk. Had most all my golf stuff back there, extra clubs, balls, rain gear, shoes, couple shirts.

Now I keep my bag (at college w/o a car) about 3 ft from my bed in the corner standing up. Its my golf corner that noone touches

mine are currently in the dining room - no one ever eats in there....in the event my wife decides we need to eat in there, I'll try to move them to the "Living room" that no one ever lives in....

basement after that because the temperature isn't as extreme as the garage

Mine are hanging up in the garage, I would bring them inside but I have been hitting the heated driving range every couple weeks & it's a pain in the butt to haul the clubs in & out.

I keep my putter in the house & practice putting on the carpet in my office.

In my living room, I have two of the metal bag organizers that each hold two bags, all of the shoes and extra stuff is in the middle sections that have shelves. The fifth bag is in the corner next to the last of the racks. I keep the set I am currently playing in the current staff bag and keep the stand bag empty so I can switch between the two. The other three bags have spare sets, woods, putters, shafts, and a Momentus.

In the summer they're in my car trunk covered with a couple towels to protect against moisture. In the winter they're in "my" hall closet nice and warm and dry.

Don't store in a damp area. They'll rust. Garages are usually okay up "nort" because it's cold and not humid in the winter so shouldn't rust (you're okay Wis_Golfer!).... When cold don't bring them in the warm humid house or they'll rust.

If you are married, you have the most laid back wife I've ever heard of. If my clubs ever went any where near the living room (or the dining room mentioned above), me AND my clubs would be in the doghouse.... literally. And I only have one bagful to worry about.

Unless I need the space, mine live in the trunk of my car year round. And then they only come out for as long as necessary. I want to be ready for golf at a moments notice, and it doesn't do me any good if I get an invite when I'm out somewhere and my clubs are 15 miles away at home. It's been that way for more than 20 years, and I can assure those who worry about such things, no harm has come to them for it. Neither the summer heat nor the winter cold has had any noticeable effect on them. The only thing I will do if I think of it is to take 2 or 3 balls and put them in my pockets to warm them up ahead of time when I get the call to play at this time of year.

Durring the golf season they stay in the pro shop unless I'm going away to play.

They spend the winter in my bedroom.

Lately mine have been in my trunk full time since I hit the range pretty often and dont want to be carrying them in and out of the house, i do fear having my car stolen with my clubs in there. One of my relatives had his clubs stolen from his truck.

Best place: The corner of my living room. Stats at a steady 70 degrees throughout the summer (and winter, as well).

Worst place: The trunk. I made the mistake of leaving my clubs in the trunk during a winter once, water leaked in, mildewed the trunk out, and rusted the hell out of the clubs. And it's bad on gas to keep extra junk in the trunk, anyway.

When I get married, I will keep my clubs in my house, and the Mrs. can either live with it or beat it.

Then again, if she even marries me, then that means she can put up with golf, it'll all be good.

She knows that golf is my job, and since everything is rather neatly stored there are no complaints.
