2008 Golf Goals?

What are yours?

Mine is to shoot in the 80's consistently by the end of the year. I am just now shooting in the 90's most of the time so I have a long way to go. I am going to spend more time practicing putting and chipping to get to this goal.

My 2007 goals were to break 90 and get my handicap down to 20 from somewhere up around 28 or 29. I managed to break 90 after a string of consistent scores in the low 90s during the middle of the summer, but once I hit the magical 88 my game went south and only just recovered by the final couple of months I got in. My handicap got as low as 21.6 but ended the season around 22.8.

So next year I want to score more consistently in the 80s and get my 'cap down to 20 or below if at all possible. I've given myself the whole of December as a break from any golf at all, then am planning on a lesson or three in January and February and at least two range visits a week, plus some trips to course as weather allows.

I only have one goal for 2008 and it's a simple one:

Play a lot.

If that happens, it will be a very good year.

Play more often in general, play more often with my wife, play more often in the 80's (stuck in low 90's right now).

My goals mirror yours:

Play more often in general, play more often with your wife, play more often in the 80's...

Just kidding...I do intend to break 90 more often than not this year. I've had a few nines lately in the low 40's. I need to tighten up (loosen up?) and play well for eighteen. I feel that my biggest roadblock (20 yards and in) is about to tumble down. I've been feeling the proper motion for the first time in my life, and now it's practice, play, practice, play, practice, play.

Eracer, I'm sure you can get 2 of your 3...doubt you're gonna succeed with my wife. She says she's found the perfect man for her!

I am going to get in better shape before the next season starts here in April. I am also going to practice more than I play. This last one is a big one- I AM STICKING WITH THE CLUBS I HAVE IN MY BAG FOR THE WHOLE 2008 SEASON.

Learn to work the ball consitently both left to right and right to left. Can do it now but not on a consitent basis, will get the push fade when trying a draw right now, and get my handicap down to around scratch or 1 from the 3 it is now

1. Lose weight. Again. Cart fees are killing my wallet, and besides, it's slow on weekends anyway. I'd actually like to walk the course without becoming exhausted.

2. Shoot in the low 80's or better. I have the game to shoot par or better but I just can't execute. And I've got no consistency, either. I need to stop losing balls on the left side of the course.

3. Break 80. I got 81 this year, but then began hacking it up thereafter.

4. Ho. It's an effective answer to any on course problem (although it is known for only lasting a few rounds before more ho'ing is necessary.)

I think he lives somewhere in Wisconsin...

BTW - I took my J33CB's out. Even with the S300 shafts (which I don't like, and am about to swap for some Flighted Rifle 5.0's) I could tell. These are special irons.

Consistently shoot in the low 90's & then progress into the upper to mid 80's. Right now I can shoot mid 90's & even occasionally a mid 80 rd but then I will completely mess up another rd & shoot a 105.

4 simple ones for me:

-Have a better attitude regarding poor rounds and poor shots

- Break par

- Win the club championship

- drop handicap 2-3 strokes.
