How do you track your game?

Do you take stats of your game?

Which stats do you take?

How do you remember them?

What sort of stats help you the most?

I only keep my total score, and enter it into the computer at the club for handicap purposes.

You should be able to figure out what you need to improve to lower your scores without having spread sheet full of your stats.

I note down total score for each hole (of course), plus number of putts per hole and where I drove the ball (left, right, or in the fairway). I find these stats really help me see where I am with my game. I use a free online service called GameTrack at www.freegolfinfo.com I'm thinking about paying the $30 per year for the GameTrack + version which will give me much more detailed reports using just these statistics...

Hope this helps...

I keep stats of my entire round.I have them all on 'putor because I am too old, lolol,to remember the next day.The stats which help the most are the ones which I see not improving.Ever 10 rounds I will look at all of them and the ones not improving will draw my attention.Been keeping stats LONG before computors were available.Good thread by the way!

I can remember up to like 5-6 rounds in my head and go through them shot by shot and think about what could be improved on week to week.

Most of the time I dont even use scorecards anymore outside of tournaments, the pencil and card just become a burden.

Score and putts go on the scorecard. The rest (fairways, GIR) I can usually remember afterwards.

I wish my memory was as good. Can anyone tell me their P.P.R.(putts per round) stat for 2007? Anyone know how many more/less greens they are hitting now than in June.I keep these statistics because when my game stalls and not improving I want to look at my numbers and if kept correctly the answer will be there 100% of the time.I realize many golfers play for fun and exercize. That is fine.I NEED to know mine to improve.p.s. those of you out there that are thinking about turning pro had should be keeping their own.Just a word of advice from an old pro that did NOT use stats for the reason they are kept.enough said,I'm wearing out my point and fingers.lol

Have used "Golf Digest ScoreCard 3.0" for many years. You do need to keep track of things during the round, but it does allow you to create your own score card, so that makes tracking things really simple.
Not sure if it is still available to purchase but there are probably lots of free ones on the internet.

I just keep track of my score, and how many putts per hole.
I also keep track of how many birdies I make.
I dont have to write that one down, since the #2 is real easy to remember. (2 is for the year, not per round)

I've just registered with the link posted by gregfletch. I had to add mycourse as they didn't have it listed. I've entered one round that I had the card for and it looks like a very good system they've got.

Agreed. Once I could get to the point were I could keep score in my head as..E...+1..+2..+1..I stopped taking cards. They cost the pro shop money ya know!.. I also got tiard of stabbing myself with the pencil when I went for it in my back pocket.

I enter my scores at my club and then I put my stats in at home on keepmygolfscore.com. It's free and I can enter my score per hole along with putts per hole, fairways hit, greens hit, and sand saves. It then takes the info and graphs it so I can track my total putts per round, GIR, Fairways and SS %. It only takes me 5 minutes to enter the info from memory once I get back from the course. I did it all of last year which was 91 rounds and it gave me a great idea of where my strengths and weaknesses were.

Very good idea of keeping tee shot stats of hits to the left or right.I'm going to add that to my 'paper trail'(stats that a game tracker usually doesn't have). Thanks for the tip!
