Situation #43

I played in our Company Golf day yesterday. I shot the lights out for 39 points (a 74 on a course I'd never played before, coming back in 34 (-2)!), which was the best score of the day, fairly comfortably.

I also won the long drive and the closest the pin (Man, I was on fire!). Now here's the dilemma. Yours truly organised it. We had suppliers, guest and staff playing, only 16 people, but we had some really nice prizes. What to do?

Did I present myself the 3 prizes? :flipa: and face the wrath of my CEO :028: Or did I scratch myself my taking a prize?

Once I get some views I'll tell you what I did. But how would you guys have handled it?

Nice job! That's a tought call. Perhaps keep the prizes on the long drive and cttp, and issue tournament prizes on order of merit after yourself? Again, that's a hard one-- one I'll probably never have to deal with. LOL

I hate to say it but I would award the prizes to others - or at worst - award the Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin to yourself and the Stableford to whomever came in second....

This is especially true of your CEO is the wrathful type.

Give them all away. I think the best prize you could have gotten was shooting the lights out.

I was in a similar situation two years ago, where our team finished 3 strokes up on the second place team, while I blew away the long drive and snuck one to 6 inches for closest to the pin. I was awarded all the prizes, which was somewhat of a downer for some of the participants. I ended up keeping the winner's trophy, but I gave the long drive and closest prizes back, telling the MC to announce that they were "generously donated by an anonomous person as door prizes. That got a good laugh, and a few people that would have gone prizeless left with smiles on their faces.

That's what's important.

Here, here! If I ever have my round-of-the-year in a public outing, I'll gladly donate all the prizes, plus stand the field to a round. You may quote me on that. Sounds like Irish had a fine time; wonder what everyone ordered afterward? :thumbup:
