Canada Golf

We complain about the weather in Wisconsin and other Northern States, but how would you like to live in Canada near Rock and Lyle, and when the 2 months of the year warm enough to play comes around, something like this might happen:

You might want to check your location again. Us Canadians would be standing up to that bear and not running away

I'm not sure but I think he wants to play through.

Reminds me of the day I was on the 3rd green just before sunset and I heard a fast thumping noise coming straight for me. I turned to find a Doe coming straight at me as fast as I have ever seen one run. Did she ever scare the crap out of me..

I was playing up in Waskesiu this summer. Both courses, Elkridge and Lobstick had deer and elk sitting on the range just waiting to be picked off.

At Lobstick there was an Elk just standing in this little rain shelter just watching us shoot.

At Elkridge the deer were jumping over this fence that they had up because of construction, and they were eating the flowers in the garden, no more then 15 feet away.

They're getting a lot more comfortable around us which is getting frightening.

Also to get even more off topic, I met a guy who wrestled a wolf up near a mine just before Christmas.

I saw a Black Bear on my home course, but they are a little more docile and I was in a golf cart. You can bet had it's mouth open like that, I would have shit my pants.

We've also seen them in our yard though, and one ripped down a bird feeder 2 feet from our bedroom window while we were asleep. Hence the reason our little 5 pound dog earned the name "Bear Bait". I had to hold him back from trying to take on a Rottweiler just 2 days ago. No clue that he would have just been another squeaky toy. Kinda like me going after that bear.

I was playing in Castlegar, BC and had to wait about 5 minutes until a black bear got off the green. So that photo ain't that far off.

That wolf attack, that happened in the middle of nowhere. If you saw where that mine is located in relation to people, it's about 300km from anything of any substance, except the mine. Now, if the mine has it's own garbage dump, and the wolves come in for a free meal, doesn't it make sense that they would be agressive rather than passive, which is their nature?

Wolves don't attack people on purpose. They attack them because we are stupid.

Kinda like Black Bears, you leave them alone, they usually leave you alone. They open their mouth like the bear in the picture, it means you are doing something stupid.

We went down to Shenandoah a few years back and we had stopped on the road side to photograph a bear. One of the park rangers told me it was good to see people not chasing them around. He said earlier that day he had to explain to people that it was not a good idea for them to distract a mother so the rest of the group could surround the cub and take pictures.

I read that the wolf was obviously sick as he was a skinnier wolf and had a limp to it. Otherwise, yes like you said, wolves don't attack just anyone. But it was alone, sick and was in need of food.

And, was introduced to a garbage dump which put them in direct conflict with people.

Like I said, we're stupid. And, we're in THEIR backyard, not ours.

It's like when people get attacked by sharks. They're just trying to get a meal, they're not doing it for kicks.

I am not afraid of wolves in the least. That's the last thing on my mind when i go out, especially around these parts. This was an isolated incident that caught media attention almost by accident.

Yea, we had 2 different seasons that we had a mama bear and cub around our course for awhile. One day the cub was just chillin on the green, he wouldn't leave.... He just walked around in circles and layed on the 8th green for about 3 hours (we skipped the approach shot, went to 9, and saw him out there after we'd finished driving out still out chillin on the green).

Nothin' if you are using a Tranquilizer or the right firearm instead of a camera. This was taken by me with my own camera from about 2 feet, and that ain't the Rottweiler my dog tried to get in a tussle with.

BTW, the Bear is still living and well as far as I know, and it was done for a good cause, while I am a Expert Marksman I have long since opted for the camera over the rifle.
