Insuring Golf Clubs

I've heard of people insuring their sticks under their car insurance plan. Has anyone ever done this? Seems like a good idea these days when a bag can run up to $1500!

well,...if someone breaks into your car and steals them I think they would be covered anyways.

Each state has it's own rules but talk to your agent about insuring them as Scheduled Property on your homeowner's insurance. It's can be pricey coverage but the clubs will be insured anywhere in the world.

When i bought a house and had to get all different insurance i talked to my agent about this very thing, between my clubs and my guns i could have as much as 15,000$ in my trunk. Since i have both my cars and my house under him he had me write down all the information for my guns and clubs and now whether in my house or in my car they are insured.

I am sure its worked into the premiums somewhere but he said it wouldnt cost me anymore than if i didnt have them on there.

Homeowners sounds like a great deal, wish I had a home. I am very careful with my clubs and never, ever leave them in the car overnight. They are worth more than the car. I live in a bad area and lately things have been getting worse. I had a package with balls ripped off from my porch and someone went into my car again the other night, took the faceplate off my stereo and left it, too stupid to figure out how to get the rest out I guess. They did steal a new golf glove in the bag with the receipt though. I'd assume with the intention of returning it for the whopping $10. However, if I see someone walking around with a black Nike golf glove, they will be getting the "British Bulldog" facefirst into the sidewalk for sure. It's gonna cost them a few teeth at least.

If mine are in the car they are covered under my comprehensive coverage, if they are in my house, under my homeowners policy. No need to cover them separately.

Speaking as a former insurance agent in the state of Vermont, your clubs would not be covered by your car insurance if they were stolen out of your trunk. Again this can differ slightly by state, but this is true in most states.

As a matter of fact they would not be covered at all unless you had a homeowners/renters policy, then they would fall under you Personal Property coverage and would be subject to your deductible.

You could schedule them ,as someone mentioned earlier about their guns, on your homeowners policy then they would not be subject to the deductible, but, and this may only be true in VT, the cost of the additional coverage was not worth what you would get in return which is not the case if someone has $15,000 worth of guns.

The best bet is to talk to your insurance agent in your state, they would know best.
