Need help - Am I a head case?

I've been playing about 3 years and I've developed a solid swing and can hit the ball reasonable well, but I've got a control problem.

Early rounds I can hit smooth controlled drives & FW shots, but as the round progresses my Cojones swell up from testosterone (not literally )and I become GOLFERMAN - able to drive 8,000 yards and make women & small children fear the force of my shot. Course I lose most of 'em.

At the same time early in the round my short game is poor, chips & wedges are either weak or skulls. Then as the round progresses wedges get smoother & more accurate.

Typical 1st hole is good drive that I waste with a poor short iron or wedge. Typical 18th is Poor drive & second that I save with a great short iron or wedge. I think I lose control and wreck my long clubs, but that fearlessness works to my advantage with wedges.

Am I a lonely soldier with this event, or do any of you suffer from this disease? Will experience and time-in-grade solve it?

You are not alone i suffer from a similar affliction. I do not start hitting the ball 8000 yards or losing tee shots, but its similar for example a few days ago I hit every fairway on my first nine and shot 43 but then shot 38 on the back having hit only two fairways.

I find that most often its a case of my body simply getting loose. My swings are less restricted and less acurate while my more relaxed body allows me to make smoother more confident pitch and chip shots.

Well thats what happens to me. Maybe you can gain some insight here.

thanks for reading

exact same case here, couldn't describe it better, thing is it used to be bad but long drives, now they are still long but getting straighter, things are getting more even from nine to nine, but that really used to be the case,

the only thing i could recommend would be to if you hit range balls beforehand just hit wedges and irons, i think rock started this with only hitting like one or two drivers, its really helped me and helped me get off to better starts, fewer bogies and double bogies to start off a round, also helps establish a tempo early something you can keep up throughout the round

Bingo! Same problem here, you are not alone. 1st hole perfect drive, then a nice wedge onto the right cart path or bunker. I noticed that I feel calm but my pulse is racing.

OK, you all might want to try this little que.

When you are adressing the ball, concentrate on the front of the ball not the back. This will help you hit thru the ball. A lot of the over swingers will start watching the ball before you actually hit it. You start tracking when you see the club face. If you are looking at the front of the ball you will have a mili second more to get into the ball before you start admiring your great shot.

This also works if you're ever having trouble hitting it fat.
