    Ebay listing help...

So I just attempted to sell my irons on Ebay. Thought I had made up a pretty good listing but only got 2 bids and a few watchers even though I had around 350 hits.

I set my reserve at $140 which is what I can get for trade in credit at the pro shop. I thought I had pleny of pics and a good description. It could just be bad timing but I would appreciate you guys taking a look and offering any suggestions.

Don't hold back either, if my prices are off or something else is out of whack say it...thats why I love this place!!! Thanks All!!!

Blew up the bag, not sure what's going in next...
    Any suggestions?

My guess is that it's just poor timing. Wait a month (if you can) and relist them. No one is buying anything right now.

Well, except me. (Idiot = me).:(

  3. Poor timing for one... I believe it's the 10th? What is the 14th? 2 the pics need to be better and the rock ding is killing them. 3 everone hates reserves. Might as well just put a low BIN if you are going to do a reserve. Search your irons and then click on "completed listings". A set in better shape went at $125. 2 went for $200 but one was looking very good and the other was from a store and the buyer paid too much anyway. If you can't live with $115 to $120 then trade them in. It's tough, I know, I've done it many times and it's not an easy pill to swallow. In this case I'd definitely say you'd have to drop the price to move them. $160 shipped just isn't going to happen I don't think, could be wrong but JMO from experience.

I knew the rock ding would kill them, but want the buyer to know about it before opening the box. Good point about the 14th too, forgot all about that and with last week being the super bowl...real bad timing.

You always have to take into consideration on the ending time. You dont want to end at some weird time or day. Sometimes its just kind of hit or miss, I have seen two exact same products go for totally different prices. I sold a set of Clevelands last year and I totatlly made my money back on them, im assuming a couple of people got into a bidding war.

  6. You don't really sell the clubs with your description. It's just a pedestrian, to the point description that doesn't make the clubs sound exciting and has little to grab the potential buyer. It's a little flat.

Don't go mad but jazz it up a little. A few key adjectives and a slightly gushy description of how the feel when struck well. ie Nothing compares to the silky smooth feel of a well struck shot with these etc. Tell people how good they look, the traditional values of the design. It will draw them in more than the fact they have frequency matched shafts and that you've looked after them a bit.

I know you include the company narrative about them but it doesn't compare to a self-penned description. It shows a bit of passion and that helps too.

Make a point that Hogan irons are less money than Mizzy, Callway, Titty etc but are of the same quality. Everyone wants quality for less buck.

Sorry if that seems harsh but I think it would help to get a bit more of your and the club's "personality" in there. Hope it does.

  7. Also, you need a picture of the back of the clubs ahowing the cavity back. These are hacker's sticks, remember?

The truth is, the market for Hogan irons is gone for good. The youngsters don't remember him and Callaway is trying to kill off the brand. Sorry. Trade them in is my recommendation.

I hate to admit it but I do believe you are correct. I just picked up a set of Hogan FTX's off global golf and they were dirt cheap for the condition they were in. Good for me, but bad for resale of any of the classic Hogan line. I think I will be trading them in....
