Any Suggestions for Cleaning Winn Grips?

Just recently put new Winn DSi V17 oversize soft grips on all my clubs and love the way they feel and play. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on the best way to clean them - I never really bothered with cleaning grips before but I'd like to keep these in good shape as long as possible....

Thanks!

Razorblade, then replace with a set of real grips...

Just kidding. Soap and water works fine for any grip. You're just trying to remove perspiration and skin oils. Some suggest using a piece of fine-grit sandpaper to roughen the grips after. I think that if the grips are that smooth, they need to be replaced.

Most of the top grips have websites that include how to care for the specific grip.
Winn Grips - The Best Grips in Golf

Edit 1 - kinda like the razor blade idea better, although I could likely get winn grips off just as easy by using the scrub brush, soap and technique that I use to clean my cord grips, there would be nothing left but the grip tape.

Thanks for correcting me PA - looks like my suggestion was a bad one, according to Winn. How can soap and water be bad for a grip? Oh yeah - they're Winns...

Exactly what is so bad about Winn's?
I just installed some Winn PCI Hybrid oversized grips. They feel great, have plenty of tack & the look is killer.

Never clean a WINN grip with soap and water, it will remain (or feel that way) wet and slippery for days, and is almost undryable.

Use rubbing alcohol as per instructions on the WINN site.

I personally don't dislike winn grips. I actually like the soft feel if they were not so????? delicate. Unfortunately the closer you get to soft feel, the further you get from durability, and wet or humid weather use. I decided they were not the right grip for me when I put one on my putter and just from putting it in and taking it out of the bag, it was roughed up and half the finish was worn off in about 3 months. Pretty much unusable. Again, that was my putter.

I personally use Golfpride Tour wrap full cords, which while they feel like sand paper, I have found no finer grip for holding onto the club. Specifically in hot, humid or wet weather. While I may be the minority and many probably feel that the softer the grip the better feel you will have for the club, I personally like the feel and responsiveness of a rougher and harder grip. Plus the things are the longest lasting grip I have ever seen. I only have to replace them after maybe 300-400 rounds depending on the club, some clubs a little sooner, where I normally have would have to replace any other grip I have used after only 100-200.

Going back to what I said early, I had to replace the winn grip after fewer than 50 rounds and that was on my putter of all clubs.

edit 1 - BTW Wi, part of the problem is that I use midsized grips, so the probably get roughed up a little quicker pulling them out of the bag plus I have 14 dividers in my bag. Plus I mainly use a cart, so I tend to get lazy and pull the clubs out at an angle as I am walking away. Since you have oversized grips, I would recommend you concentrate on pulling them straight up out of the bag, or after a few months take a close look and you will likely notice the grip rubbing off from the side you pull the club out.

Don't get your panties in a wad!

You like 'em? More power to you. I happen to despise the jelly feel and lack of durability. Not to mention the unusability in the Florida humidity.

Just my opinion. Which I have been known to express from time to time in this place that is expressly designed for such a thing.

I like the putter grip I have but then again I don't play in humid conditions like you either.

We should be saying this to you, settle down. I just asked why you didn't like them. Well I don't live or will I ever live in florida so I don't deal with 200% humidity everyday of my life. Plus I only like their putter grips.

I'm not the least bit worried about it. Just wondering why the "Winn Grip Defense Team" came out.

No, I know the answer to that. Because it's an IBM Stinkpad, running Windows, and IE6.0 (all the things Sling tells me I need to dump to make this site work faster)...
