Where to find a round now

Hey getting antsy for a round instead of Wii.I live in cental Illinois.How far south do I have to go to find an open course and some at least 60* temps?Any suggestions?I dont want to spend the money to fly.

You aren't far from Mississippi or Alabama, right now in Tupelo it's 60º, upper 50's low 60's in Florence AL. I am headed down there as well as Dallas next weekend, hopefully the weather will continue as it currently is.

What's it like in Illinois? Are any courses open? I need to get away and have no aversion to playing in 35* weather as long as the course is open, has flags, and no temporary greens.

I usually jet down I-35 from MPLS to Des Moines or Ames, but I don't think anything is open down there yet. Anything in Illinois that you know of?

Chicago is only 5.5 hours from here.

Anyone? Please chime in if you have open golf and whereabouts in the midwest. Thanks.

As a current resident of Ames, I can tell you that there is still at least 7 inches of snow on the ground. In fact, I am starting a new job in 2 weeks, and I am going to visit friends in St. Louis to play golf. Today, and probably for at least the next 10 days, you are going to have to cross the Iowa border to have any hope.

edited to add: there is a snow map kept by the NOAA. http://www.nohrsc.noaa.gov/interactive/html/map.html it usually gives you a good idea of where to start looking for open courses

Well where do I start? There are courses stating they are open but,with a few inches of snow left that fell on top of the previous melted snow and the 6-7" of rain those courses all have standing water on the fairways and some greens.With tonights expected temp at 8* I may get some good roll tomarrow but tough to get a ball into a cup of ice But our 10 day forecast says next weekend will be 40* w/wind advisory so maybe???

I would have to go to the High noon desert to do that LOL
