Best is par 70 a few times last year, usually I'm 75-77 on that course. On a par 72 my best is 73. I want to get under par once or twice this year.

My best or favorite was my first time breaking 80. When I first took up golf, I met an assistant pro at my club who was willing to really teach me to be a player. When we met in March, I was a 29 handicap, who had been playing for 6 months. I asked him if he would be willin to teach me to play golf, not golf swing. He came up with a program: Every Monday, I was to play in a Pro-Am with him (local PGA tourneys), every Wednesday a lesson, every Thursday a playing lesson, every Sunday I had to give him a lesson.
The playing lessons were really cool. We did things like a 4 ball scramble: I hit 4 balls for each shot, this taught me to find out how often I could pull off different shots- when to go for it, when to play safe. Teaching him- he had me study a number of teaching manuals, Hogan's 5 lessons, and a book by Flick. On Wednesday lessons, he concentrated on putting and chipping for what seemed to be a long time.
Anyway, by June my handicap dropped to 24. We are playing in a Pro-Am and I don't think our team is doing well. I play just "ok" on the front, and at the turn, I exhorting our team to turn it on on the back nine. On the back, I am only thinking about making birdies. Of course, a beginner making birdies is ridiculous. I hit only 2 greens on the back, but I'm trying like heck to sink every chip and pitch. I actually did sink one of them!
As we came in, the pro told me our score looked pretty good and we should hang around to see how we did. About a half hour later, in the bar he says to me, "You were on fire today, especially the back 9. You were one over on the back!"
I asked him one over net? He says, no one over GROSS (37), and coupled with your 41 on the front, you shot 78!
In these pro-ams, the ams only get 70% of their handicap, so I got 17 shots. My net was 61 and we won the thing. My pro had some explaining to do, because he was accused of bringing a ringer. Another pro from my club stood up for us and everything was ok. He won some pretty good cash, the rest of our team won like $300 or so in golf shop credits.
I was amazed! Of course, his teaching program took me to a 10 handicap that year, with a few more rounds in the 70s.
76, last year about half way through the season, then a few 77's and 78's.

Really! About 18 months. A group of my "Enginerd" buddies from USU would wait for the 2 for 1 deal to come out in the phone book. Then we would raid the campus of coupons and come play Eagle Mountain! You guys were always warmer than Logan much sooner and later in the year.

I have wanted to golf with someone from this website, so as long as I don't have a tournament going on I would come play with you guys.
