79 Today, an Ugly 79...

I know some of you guys would Kill to shoot 79, but I am planning on going through a few things and try and make my Way to the Nation Wide Tour etc..

Anyways, I played at the Local Course today, its Called Del Urich, in downtown Tucson. Its short, 6,633 from the tips Par 70. I started off badly, I am still having putting issues, First Hole, Bogey, 2nd Hole, Double 3putt, 3rd hole Bogey. So i am quite pissed off at this point, but the next hole is a very short Par 4 It plays 300 from the front of the tee box, today it was almost all the way back so about 310 ish, It Has BIRDIE written all over it. Im angry so I took a little extra on the tee, and blasted one , i was aiming just left of the green because there is a nice landing area, well too bad I hammered this drive, I cleared the landing area and was on the hill past the green to the left. Well I said to myself, chip close and try to make 1 dam putt. Well let me tell you, when your putting like crap there is no better feeling than chipping in my eagle and having 0 putts.

I figured that I was about to get my turn around, pft yeah right, Bogey Bogey, par, par, par.

On 10 i hit another killer drive I had 30 yards to the green, I thought I hit a great chip that only rolled 40 feet long, 3 putt. Next hole, 3 putt, it wasent pretty, Then finally on 15, Birdie chip in... 16, perfect drive, 50 yards left, another wedge that would not spin and hold the green. 17 par, 18, Perfect drive, 6 iron right at the stick 1 bounce waiting for the spin, nothing right into the bunker... so frustrating today..

I feel ya bro, Im in the same boat. This game was alot more fun when I didnt get upset with shooting 75. Lately ive been puring the ball, and just cant seem to score. I havent messed up and shot over 80 or anything, but compared to two weeks ago when I had 6 straight rounds sub par, it feels like a step in the wrong damn direction.

I grew up playing in the north (Ohio), on alot of Donald Ross courses. Most of which required irons off the tees, and precise approach shots. Now I am in Central Florida, playing much longer courses that require driver 14 times a round.

How old are you?

Sorry to say this, but, if you are not shooting the lights out, meaning in the 60's, round after round after round, on your home tracks, setting course records locally and so on, you are not going to the Nationwide tour.

I grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba watching Rob McMillan play as a junior. He was routinely shooting in the 60's at 12 years old, and lit it up for a stretch on the Canadian Tour. He doesnt have the game to crack the NW tour full time.

There is nothing wrong with having goals, but you really need to be realistic when setting them.

Dude, you've never broken 70 in your life. Take a reality pill here.

You simply have no clue how good players are out there. The Canadian tour, the hooters tour are chalk full of players who could shoot in the mid 60's with their eyes closed on most courses you are playing. Most of these guys have course records on a 1/2 dozen tracks or more. With your scores at your age this is a pipe dream. Sorry to say that, but its a fact.

Really have to agree with Lyle, it's disheartening & hard to believe how much better these guys on tour are compared to us but facts are facts. Practice os great but unless you have the natural born talent these guys have, you won't make it.

you're mad about shooting a 79?....but your best round was a 71?....that doesnt make any sense at all!....not bashing you or anything like that but a 79 is only 8 shots worse than you best.......................ever!..........just my 2 cents.

I will bet you by the end of this summer, Im a scratch handicap Lyle. Yes your guys are right, its a dream, but for most of those guys it was too. They had the time and money, well I will take my 1/1,000,000 odds and make them work for me.
