Tiger Vs. Phil

In this month's Golf Magazine, and I know we talk about their (their being GD, GM and Golf World alot) articles alot but we need something to talk about, there is an article about why we will see a Tiger Vs. Phil showdown this year at the Master's. While I would love to see that (I doubt we will) and while it would be fun to again rehash who is better (lets not) I noticed something that I have not noticed before.

There is a side by side picture of Tiger and Phil. Tiger, as usual, is looking cut and ripped and every womans dream. Phil on the other hand is not cut or ripped, he actually looks very... average. This is what I noticed for the first time. I think that this may be a part of Phil being so popular, much the way Freddie Couples is popular. He looks like he could be your neighbor or part of your foursome in the local charity scramble.

Tiger, not to take anything away from him, does not look like anybody I know. I could never look like Tiger, even if I quit my job and worked out 24/7, I just don't have the body type. I would look more like Mike Golic from "Mike and Mike in the morning" on ESPN.

Anyway, sorry for the long post. Just thought I would bring up a Tiger/Phil point that I have never heard discussed or mentioned and something I noticed. I also must confess that I am a Tiger guy when it comes to Tiger Vs. Phil, I don't know if that makes any difference or not....

I totally understand, Phil looks like you can have fun with him while playing and while not.

Tiger seems like he would beat ur ass if u mess with him on the course ( not practice rounds ) but off the course tiger seems totally chill

Tiger is an athlete, Phil is a golfer.

Adam, that is absolutely right on. Honestly, if Tiger had picked any other sport as a young guy, i have absolutely no doubt in my mind that if he was just as dedicated to it as he has been to golf, he could be a MLB player, NFL/CFL player, NBA player, NHL player, maybe even be Federer's biggest competition?.

Were lucky to have him. He is a true athlete.

Good thought, but the truth is:

Tiger is an athlete AND a golfer. The best golfer in history, to be exact.

Go further back and think of how wildly popular Arnold Palmer was, and still is. This is one of the reasons why.
