Stat - Tiger Kicking my Ass.

Well, for thought of what numbers I needed to improve and how much (as I track all my stats), I thought I'd compare my stats to Tiger's.

Here's my findings: (top one is me, bottom is Tiger)

Thought that was interesting, why not post it:laugh:. So in theory, tournament play he'd be giving me 6 shots a side.

The numbers that stand out the most for me, other than scoring avg, putting (5 ppr less then me), GIR (40% higher), FW% (kicking his ass by 40%), and scrambling (34% better than me).

GIR seems to be hurting your score, do you hit your irons well?

Haha, sadly yea, im hitting my irons better than i ever have lately.

Yesterday hit 11greens, with 5 of them being "just" missed, 3 ending up just on fringe, and the other 2 getting the worst bounce possible and ending up in hazards...:(.

My GIR is slowly climbing, consistently between 9-13 GIR, but have one round that I only hit 3 that really kills the avg, but thats just part of it, i cant let myself have such a bad day like that (that day was my worst round of 82).

Something that jumps out at me is your putts per round. I just pulled up my stats from my last 20 rounds (18 from last year and two from this year) and I averaged 33.06.

I don't consider myself a great putter but a decent one. One thing I concentrate on while playing is make anything 10 ft. or under and anything from 10-20ft. leave no more than a 18 inch 2nd putt. That means I pick a line and concentrate on nothing but speed as I make the stroke. It's amazing but I will actually drop a 20 ft.+ putt or two during almost every round using this strategy. My putting mantra during every round is "no 3-putts". Those kill you worse than anything on the scorecard and add up surprisingly fast if you let them.

Anyway, I'll often go a round or sometimes even two without a 3-putt. I may not make a ton of 20 footers but I'll take a tap-in as a second putt any time.

Isn't Tiger's stats based on all the tougher courses he plays ? Unless you play those top flight PGA courses, not sure if this is a valid comparison ?? Tiger can probably give a division 1 college boy, 10 shot lead and still catch him.

The big difference in the driving stats isnt that you got him by 40% but more that your hitting 5 iron from the fairway to his wedge from the rough

Tiger just proves that hitting it in the short grass is overrated.

Goatster- for him maybe, for me I believe this was a key stat in my improving my game over the past year. This year I can count the amount of golf balls ive lost in tournament play on both hands, which we all know those penalty strokes add up fast. I think the fw stat is a great building block for me going forward in tournament play.

jordanrules- by no means was that serious. If Tiger came and played here at our home course with us, I think him giving me 6-8 a side would be fair, he's great and all, but I play a decent game, on my home course Im good for a 70s score on a terrible day, so say I play terrible like I did yesterday and shoot a 78, with 8 a side he has to beat me by 16 stroke (62). By no means is that too tough for Tiger, but he basically has to play birdie golf, which no matter how good you are, your going to hit a shot or two bad.

But i really dont want to start that Tiger vs. whoever arguement again. It's just like debating religion or politics.

Lyle- I think that is fairly true, by no means am I very long, a solid drive for me gets out to 290, im not cracking balls out there 300. But im starting to see my iron distances creep closer to where im seeing him hit shots on tour, granted these are finess shots, but if he wanted to, he could hit a pw 170, i cant get it past 150max. But im getting my tempo and rhythm to where im hitting the ball further becuz im releasing properly and am able to control the ball a lot better, that feeling is great.

Although an extra 50 yards would be nice:laugh:. Im the shortest player on my college team, but who cares when i live in the fairway.
