    dave's secret

    Like Hogan I have cracked the secret, mine is all to do with mesmerising length. Sadly, I am shit at keeping secrets, so I am spilling the beans. I am 20 yards longer than this time last year, thats an extra 10mph club head speed. Here's how you do it;

    a) Go to the gym. I have lost 2 stone in 4 months and thats with extra muscle. I turned 40 and started blobbing on bought sandwhiches, drinking to much beer, snacking and having to many biscuits with my tea. Its a desease I caught from US forums I think, the blobbyness just came over the ether into my life. Anyway, tip number one, slim down, get stronger, and get fitter, easy.

    b) Spend about 2 years and about £3000 frigging about with shafts and heads, going to the range and having many sessions on bogus monitors with spotty salesman who knows naff all. You may then strike it lucky, its like winning the lottery, I rate your chances as 10000/1, but you have to try. I stumbled on mine by chance.

    c) Practice for about 15,000 balls . I have added length with some subtle swing changes, takes about 2 years.

After all that you can either generate club head speed or you can't, many if not most just can't do it, its in many ways a natural talent, so all I can say is hard luck, you will just have to practice your short game more to have a chance against us long hitters, shorty.

  2. Unfortunately, I have to agree with point 1. The Americans amongst us are sending bicuits and beer down the ether!

However, I started back doing some weight training on my shoulders and arms (no chest work to speak of) and I've gained probably another 8-10 yards on most clubs, and I can swing the stick like its going into orbit. It sure as hell works.

    Preach, Dave, preach.

  3. How about forget all that - purchase some lessons with a good pro and work on your swing and timing?
Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing.

And here I thought all I had to do was watch The Golf Channel and buy a new driver every six months. Now you're telling me I actually have to work at improving? Feck that.

Sure Dave blame the weight gain on the US. How nice.
When asked how to put back spin on a i7,
Trevino said how far do you hit it?
The guy said 120yds and Trevino said why do you want to back it up?

Definitely not the American way, used to be just not anymore sadly enough.
Blew up the bag, not sure what's going in next...
    Any suggestions?

Come on now, most Americans don't even drink tea especially when beer is available, and one certainly wouldn't be caught dead with a biscuit unless it is lathered and swimming in pork sausage gravy to disguise the fact that it is a biscuit.

Now the Beer and sandwiches I can relate to, and it is a main part of my game improvement. By the end of a bad round, all of my previous poor shots look much more appealing.

You short hitting fools are living a life of angst and depression, constantly yearning for what you can't be bothered to achieve, because you have become fat and lazy. Embrace your laziness, achieve greatness through the short game, your life will be less stressful and you might even be able to give a long hitter like me a game someday.

Hi Dave, you have made a sad day for me to realize I actually need to work at my game to get longer, I'm off to the driving range today and golf course tomorrow, we'll see if beer had slowed me down or was that the bottle of red last night?
You're welcome to look me up if you ever visit the Pacific NW in the future and we'll play a few rounds
