    Decisions Decisions ....

The countdown continues to 19th April and our quest to retain the Emerald Challenge Cup against our American counterparts in SW Florida. A veritable golf fest with 2 official practice rounds on the Sun/Monday and 3 Championship rounds Wed/Thurs/Fri. Which leaves the Tuesday as a free day .. or does it ? ... we have an option on the Tuesday to play either TPC Sawgrass, Doral or Olde Cypress ...decisions decisons huh ???

Take advantage of the exchange rate, not a bad idea.

You really should play Sawgrass if you never have. It is a long drive from Miami to Jacksonville - a solid 5 to 6 hours. Still, an amazing golf course. I've never played Doral, but I suspect you wouldn't be disappointed there, lol.

    Have fun wherever you choose.

I think if it was a gun-to-the-head situation Eracer, Sawgrass would be my choice, but I wouldn't be disappointed if Doral wins out in the scheme of things !

This is one of the official practice round courses Old Corkscrew Golf Course - a Jack Nicklaus Signature Course in Southwest Florida a Jack Nicklaus designed masterpiece by all accounts

Useless piece of info ... we met up last Saturday with some of the travelling party over a couple of pints (hic). I expressed some concern at particular aspects of the wildlife in Florida .. Alligators being the primary. The soundest advice I was given .. lol ... was that I wont outrun an alligator if it comes for me, but that i should adopt a zigzag method of running to escape.

So tonight I'm gonna get the young lad to dress up in his Barney suit (don't have an alligator one) and to chase me down the back garden as I practice some of Walter Paytons best moves.. pics to follow ...

I wouldn't worry much about the alligators unless you wear the Barney suit on the course during mating season. We'd definitely need pics of that.

  11. How is life on Tour these days Dave? Do you get home much to see the wife and we'ans?

My dad and uncle played Doral 25 years ago. Me and the brothers were thinking about some sort or anniversary type gig at some point in the next year or so. Play the Blue Monster. And then write a trip report.

    Enjoy...
Doctors say that you should eat 5 pieces of fruit or veg a day to remain healthy. Last week I ate 5 mouldy plums and that night I shat the bed. What's healthy about that?:shocked::shocked:

Dave's been known to wear worse that that! The Barney clobber would be a quiet day option.

  13. On the bright side, I believe that if your ball lands close to a gator you may take relief without penalty. How considerate.....presumably it's not a requirement to drop the original ball.

Dave, being a die-hard traditionalist would probably lose a leg in the process of playing a punched 6 iron from the open jaws.

I've reported herself to Social Services, so the kids are in care, well it's 1 less worry knowing they're getting 3 square meals a day ..

Sawgrass v Doral .. jeez how can you lose, there was a great buzz going around last Saturday looks like we're getting bumped up to 1st class on the Delta flight over. Gonna exploit the exchange rate in a ho shop over there - undecided between TM SuperQuadTP and 460 TP and if I've any money left over I'm gonna buy a golf game - pure sh*te at the moment which worryingly is the one downside to the trip !

Now that's the type of info that's invaluable, as I made it cystal clear to my partner (it's a 4ball tourney) that any ball I hit off the fairway will be declared lost immediately ... another comforting anecdote (not) from the guys who played last year, was that all alligators that grow to more than 6 foot are removed from the course ... there was a secondary conversation regarding snakes poisonous v non poisonous, I'd passed out at that stage ..
