Handicap 8 in one year...what's next?

Hello.
In March 2007 it was the first time in my life that i took a golf club in my hand. i had about 10 private lessons in april 07. after that i never had any lessons.

During 2007 i was playing golf 3-4 times per week (range & course). Today i have hdcp 8. I pratice 2-3 time per week.
i am 24 and i am pretty obsessed whit golf. now i like to take it seriously. tell me honestly, do i still have any chances to become pro player.

If you ever get down to a handicap of +3 of the back tees on a tough course then maybe, until then enjoy golf.

+3 is what i am thinking you mean.

This means you play 3 under par most of the time

You're right, I'm watching the masters and don't have the ability to multi-task.

WOW! I wish I could spend that much time on the course. What was your handicap when you started?

No they let you play no matter what your age, your improvement is impressive but no-one should be even thinking about pro until they can play a course and realistically expect to shoot par.

I'm sure it has happened...I dont know who,...but I'm sure someone started late. I heard Jim Furyk say he didnt start playing golf until he was 14....thats later than most pro golfers, your only 10 years older

Youth has an advantage, but no I wouldn't say it's impossible at all. Something you could consider as a possibility is getting to scratch and taking your Player's Ability Test (PAT) to become a PGA professional. But honestly, there are tournaments everywhere. You don't need to be on the PGA tour to win tournaments. If you were 35 and shooting -7 through 18 you'd get through qualifying school. Just might have time to only win 4 majors instead of 40 . Win once on tour and you're probably financially comfortable.

I'm gonna turn pro!!!

I'm aiming high too, I will be a Tour Pro......Champions tour that is. I'm 31 now so I have another 19 years or so to drop the 7 shots to scratch & by that time my overswing should be just about perfect at the top of the backswing!
