How would it be down to dirt in a month? Doesn't your lawnmower have a height limit of an inch or so?

Buy a chipping mat. There is no way that you will be able to produce grass that will grow back fast enough.

I have a chipping mat, and i place it on the patio and chip onto the lawn. The only reason i put it on the patio is because when i place it on the grass it become uneven and is very hard to chip from.

And PA and Wi are right, grass grows much better when constantly tended to. Grass clippings help fertilize the remaining grass, and do wonders to rejuvenate the tips of the grass. When you cut it(assuming that you cut it to proper height) it keeps it thick and green. So mow early and mow often.

edit- Plus the chipping mats are only ~$10. They hold up well to full swings, and provide easy storage options.

Thanks Footballking I'll look into one of those. My dad and I are talking of some landscaping we could do to make the yard look better.

Hahaha, this is so pathetic. Go to Home Depot, go to the outdoor section, look at grass seeds, fertilizers, etc. When you see someone that works there, ask them what would be best for your situation, tell them what your lawn looks like, what you do to it and so on. They should be able to recommend you something, better than a bunch of "a-holes" on an internet forum.

If I'm not mistaken, you started posting winter or fall 2007. I don't remember seeing you before then. So, when you attempt to make a comeback, try to make sense. There is no way a bunch of a-holes on the internet screwed up your lawn in the winter in WI.

I asked a simple question what would be a good grass for chipping on and I get some sarcastic but some helpful comments. In what world is it right to make some one because they asked a question? I guess I could just ask my dad he knows about lawns, we had a nice lawn once then we realized how much a pain in the azz it was to mow it every week. Last year we only cut it 3 time the whole year.

You mow every week and it's a nice lawn, the next post you mow it every week and it is down to dirt. We gave you legitimate advice on how to get what you wanted, but it wasn't what you wanted to hear because it was too much work. It is obvious from reading you last statement your dad won't get of his ass and mow your lawn for you so you expect someone on here too, or better yet hire someone for $30 to come out and do it for you.

Good luck on finding that nice plush chipping matt with the magical seed that cost less than $30 and does not require maintenance, mowing and can be sprinkled down by hand. If you find it, I will pay you 3 times that to come put it in my yard, assuming it comes with the 90 money back magic dust guarantee.

Personally, I am seeing a trend here, what was the last one. You wanted a weight in the back of you putter, but didn't want to buy the drill bit to do it right, but when you sure fire method of saving the money on the bit didn't work, you wanted to know why life mistreated you so much and you where the only one it didn't work for and could someone tell you why. Or is it the, "I'm gonna give up golf because I can't afford any good clubs that make the game fun, and it is no fun without them"

I actually take pride in your a-hole comment, and actually hope it was directed specifically at me. Reason being is that in all these threads that I mentioned, I tried to give legitimate sincere advice, however it just wasn't what you wanted to hear. Then when it didn't work out to your liking you wanted to know why. So I guess if we are to the name calling tantrum phase, I have a few I wish to share with you. Hey guys, I haven't been on for a few days because the internet took a dump and IT couldn't fix it. What some idiots Alltel has working in their IT department.

Well anyways its spring here in Wisconsin now finally. And I want to start working on my short chips more outdoors. I'm just wondering what I would have to buy to have a better lawn that wouldn't die off in the hot drying sun of Wisconsin. I'm thinking some lawn grass seed, and some fertilizer but I don't know what kind would work best for chipping and would hold up to full swings of an iron w/o tearing apart and going a hundred different places. I'd like it to hold together so I could replace the divot. I'm not sure how to go about doing that or if I even can. I want to keep it cheap maybe around $30 dollars at most.

If your worried about practicing a proper golf swing without damaging your lawn can I suggest not practicing on your lawn. Simple but effective.
