Bethpage next week

I've got a business trip scheduled for next week in NY, so naturally I figured to bring my sticks

So, I did the whole registration deal for the NY parks, and find out that I cannot make a reservation until 48 hrs before the day I want to play. (Wed 5/14 or Fri 5/16) I guess residents along with low fees get to reserve 2 weeks out...

Any suggestions here? I'm traveling alone so I guess it shouldn't be too hard to get on as a single, but I hate to leave such things to chance.

I've really got no business on the black (around a 14 cap these days) but what the heck. Also thinking if I can somehow get on the black early in the morning that I'd also try and play the green or blue in the afternoon.

Any tips for those in the know? Clearly I've got no idea what I'm doing here...

I would keep trying the telephone registration when it starts. (you don't have to wait for the operator to finish saying the choices, you can press buttons, no waiting, I keep calling and punch numbers like a madman).

For a single, shouldn't be too bad to just go and see what opens up. Guranteed there will be guys there that don't show up 1 hour before their tee time and they lose it (very strict policy, the computer automatically releases the tee time in you aren't checked into 1 hour before).

Goof luck and have fun.

Almost forgot, not sure if you walk or ride, but carts aren't allowed on Black.
I've heard horror stories when it comes to Black. I am a 20 handicap, if I played black, I think I would break every club in my bag and give up the game. True, it would be an experience but not worth it for me at this stage. I plan on getting better first.

Right now, the fescue probably hasn't grown in to full length yet. But once July / August hits, forget it, you hit your ball into fescue, don't even bother searching, lol.

I played Green for the first time a couple weeks ago, great course course. I usually play Blue (fairly long course, about 6100 - 7300 yards) and Yellow (easiest course).

Thanks for the tips.

Like I said, I have no business on the black course, but I do plan on enjoying it nonetheless. I will leave the ego in California. I will not (obviously) be trying to score, but rather survive.

If you are out of state, you can still register but you can only make tee time reservations 2 days prior to.

The green fees for out of state are double ONLY for Black and Red Course. Green, Blue and Yellow are the same. (instate vs. out of state).

All reservations are done over the phone. Nothing online.

That's fine, still better then not having a time at all. Can you send me the number to call and register? Thanks!

Here are the numbers:

Tee time: 516-249-0707
Park office: 516-249-0700

fyi, golfers have 24 hours before there scheduled tee times to cancel without being charged. So the day before you want to play, that is an excellent time to keep calling until you can get a tee time. Good Luck.

You have to register in the parks system before you can reserve a time. The instructions are on the Parks site (just google Bethpage courses and you'll come up with it). Anyway you have to FAX in a bunch of info and register in their system first. Took a day for me, did it this week.

Then being out of state, wait until 2d, then call and pray.

No need to pray, LOL. After trying a couple times, you will know which buttons to press by heart.

Hope you get a tee time, good luck and let us know your take on the course.

You guys think we'll get out on a Wednesday by noon if we're going with a 4some with no time around 7 AM?

Well I signed up and registered! Faxed the info in, called them up to confirm that they received it, and the lady had me registered and ready to call the tee time system within 5 minutes. Thanks for the info guys...
