Augusta Golf

I am going to be in Augusta for the next 2 weeks for work and was wondering if anyone knew a good public course out there. I have to leave my clubs at home so i would need to rent some there too.

Not a ton, something reasonable and still being well kept. I havent played in a while so im not looking for something challenging but wouldnt mind if it was the best course for the money.

Of the bunch, the ones I like best are Aiken, Forest Hills, River, Midland Valley and Goshen.

I can't get on the really nice PRIVATE ones: Augusta National, Augusta Country Club, Champions Retreat, Sage Valley, Palmetto, Currahee, Cuscowilla, Great Waters.

I'm trying to get on to Sage Valley. I have met a couple of members and they keep promising me a round. I'm not holding my breath.

A sales rep came by yesterday whose Dad is a member at Palmetto Club. He promised me a match there. I'm not holding my breath, either.

Applewood is good coarse. I played in a tournament there a few weeks ago. If you come and play Belle Meade in Thomson, just drive south 2 miles, across I-20 and come by and see me. I'll be at work.

Just north of Augusta theres a couple of nice ones too, Arrowhead Point in Elberton and Hickory Knob in McCormick SC.....about a hour drive.

The Doc gave you plenty to choose from.

Played Jones Creek and The River Golf Club during Master's week. Jones Creek is a really nice track, great holes, good design. Nice challenge. The conditions were not so great that week however. If they have improved, I would recommend this course.
The River Club, in North Augusta SC is beautifully maintained. Nice club house and well manicured. Not the most difficult track but nice lakes and vegitation.

I got out to bartram trails yesterday and that is a nice looking course. Though that is not a good course to play when you havent played in quite a while lol. I got my butt kicked there and lost a half dozen balls.

It's not on my favorites list for that exact reason. Once you play it 30 or 40 times, then you will know where NOT to hit the ball. How many did you put in "the canyon"?

Plus, I live on the other side of town (de po side).

We only played 9 holes since it started to rain, so im not sure if we got to the hole you are talking about. But if your talking about the 5th or 6th hole, cant remember exactly what number it was, i only left 1 ball short before i went for it. I went with some people from work who go to that course every other week for a round after work so they gave me a good idea where to hit it but i was to rusty to hit it in the right spot lol.
