I'm starting to get the shakes. I haven't played since Sunday. I haven't gone 5 days without playing or practicing since January.

I have been out 12 times...now if you were counting "solid" rounds of golf i would be in the 0 category...for my career..

At least once a week, usually two. Four times in March though and it's been cold every time out. And old people don't play well in the cold...

At least 30 rounds since the last snow melted off so the course could open on Feb 24. Been a few breaks since then too for weather. All 20 of my scores on the GHIN Handicap site are from 2008, and I've had several 9 hole rounds, and a few 18 holes that were purely for practice, so not entered. And all rounds between the course opening and March 14th could not be entered because our handicap season for submitting scores didn't start until then. I don't save cards so I can't recheck it, but it has to be more than 30 by now.

I golf

For free 9 holes per day (play for a team). Then i usually will play another 9-18 at a local public course. So ive probably got a good 30 rounds this year.

It's hard for me to tell you when I have not played. I average the same as you Jayhawk. I know that I have played every day since Mother's Day. So that's something like 12 in a row and I know I am playing tomorrow and Sunday so that will make 14 days in a row. I don't think I am playing Memorial Day though but it's still too early to say for sure....

Maybe we should start our own with that criteria of how many times this year we have not played.

This year I am honestly trying to cut back and practice new things more. Last year it seemed like I would play 5-6 days a week and all but one were some sort of competition. It really never gave me a chance to practice anything new. So this year I am trying to cut it down and while still playing 5-6 days a week, about 1/2 those are just practice of maybe 2-3 hours on short game, then practicing a few very common shots, predicaments, sand shots, or new things like bump and runs from places it makes sense but have never tried. Some days I will never putt, others I will not take tee shots. Amazing what you can learn spending 4 hours on the course twice a week and never log a score.

In just doing so for a couple weeks now, I have noticed a big improvement and have managed to rid myself of a good part of my penalties using shots I never would have tried before because it was in competition and not wanting to take risks.

I have done the same thing this year, some times I don't care about the score & just want to practice, yet I hate practicing at the range. So Ill go out & play a rd but will drop 2-3 balls in some spots just to see if I can make a particular shot. If I screw up a shot somwhere I will drop balls & keep hitting until I figure out what I did wrong the 1st time. It has really helped me a lot this year so far.
