Last time golfing with "The_Bomber"

Byron and I got out for a very enjoyable 18 today at Ives Grove Links. And he continues to amaze me with his easy swing and huge distance. Of course he blitzed me which is normal. 86 to 95.

We both started out with a par on the par 5 first hole. Then He kept playing good and I got my two blowup holes out of the way. I was hitting my driver very straight and reasonably long though. Hole number 6 is a 425 yard par 4 and we had a slight breeze at our backs. Byron cranked one down the middle and had... 50 yards in. He hit that thing 375 yards, over 100 yards past me. First nine Byron 41, me 48. But I did birdie the last par 5 to get him by 2 strokes on that hole...

Second nine we both didn't do as well but the last hole (500 yard par 5) Byron has 150 yards in. He hit that one 350 yards straight down the middle. And that was INTO the wind.

I'm really gonna miss watching that guy crush 'em....

Of course we had a few beers afterwards.

.

Did I miss something here? Is Byron another one of your imaginary friends who are "going away" since you've started taking your new medication?

What's the deal?

King Par is an unknown quantity at this point
Byron is his neighbour that he plays golf with occasionally and has a long swing. From what I've read.

Byron hit my Sumo2 on one hole. 300 straight down the middle and LOUD. So that's what they mean when they say it's loud. Doesn't make that sound when I hit it....

Also hit our other partner's (Bruce) Srixon 560, 506 or something (?) driver. Of course it was 20 yards past my drive straight down the middle. I hate hitting other drivers good. Was an old, tall, fat guy from Milwaukee. He was pretty good too.

I got the putter going again today. And those sweet S59 irons were on the pin. Dubbing the hybrids bad today.

All right, all right, I'll stop poking fun...

WBL - I did not understand your original post. Could you please explain why this was the last round that you would be playing with your friend, Byron?

Thank you, kind sir.

He'll really hit it big up there

I am finally getting my swing grooved again. I took Cam out today, and farted around the course with him... it truly amazes me how natural he is at sports, hockey and golf especially.

Anyhow, I made a few birdies and a some bogeys, I think we played like 14 holes or something, so that would be my first sub 80 round of the year

Reminds me of a joke I heard some time ago:

There were these two guys who played golf together frequently. The one guy was several strokes better than the other guy, but the lesser player was very proud, and never wanted to take any strokes to even up the game. Finally, one Saturday morning he shows up with a gorilla at the first tee. He says to his friend, "You know, I've been trying to beat you for so long, I'm about ready to give up. But I heard about this golfing gorilla, and was wondering if it would be OK if he plays for me today. In fact, if you're willing, I'd like to try to get back all the money I've lost to you this year, which I figure comes to about a thousand bucks. You game?"

The other guy thinks about it for a minute, and then decides to play the gorilla, thinking, "after all, how good could a gorilla be at golf?"

Well, the first hole was a straight-away par 4 of 450 yards. The guy hits a beautiful tee shot, 275 yards down the middle, leaving himself a 6 iron to the green. The gorilla takes a few powerful practice swings and then laces the ball 450 yards, right at the pin, stopping about 6 inches away from the hole.

The guy turns to his friend and says "that's incredible, I would have never believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes. But you know what, I've seen enough. I've got no interest in being totally humiliated by this gorilla golfing machine. You send this f***ing gorilla back to where he comes from - I need a drink, better make it a double, and I'll write you a check."

After handing over the check, and well into his second double scotch the guy asks, "By the way, how's that gorilla's putting?"

The first guy replies "Same as his driving."

"That good, huh?"

"No, I mean, he hits putts the same way - 450 yards, right down the middle!"
