Won my 1st Dunham match :-)

I got a late call up to my Clubs Dunham Forest Team for todays match. The Dunham Forest is a big prestigous compation for the County I live in. It's a 7 man Team, the Pro and the 6 lowest handicappers. We have four players injured or unable to play so I got the call yesterday evening as a reserve.

Our track is playing very firm and fast and the greens are unholdable at the moment. The watering system is broken and it's been warm and windy for about a month now.

The Match.... 1st hole I hit a good drive just about 20 yards short of the green but finished in the left hand semi. He drove to about 50 yards or so. He played a great approach it just burnt the edge of the hole for a 2 and finished about 6"'s away. I chipped on to about 12 foot and missed the bird to go one down!!! I then won 2,3,4 halfed 5, won 6,7,8,9 to be 6UP at the turn Good halfs on 10 & 11 then got a bit carried away and lost 12 & 13. My arse was twitching a bit at this point as I was 1st out and my score had been relayed back to the boys who must of all been counting me as a banker. I managed to pull myself together again and pared the 14th...he missed a 7 footer for the half so I won 5 & 4!!!

The match on the whole was a close one, we won 4 - 3 but only after a game had gone onto the 19th hole (our player was 4 up with 5 to go same as me).

Well done! So your last man was up 4 with 5 to go, and had to go extra?

He was actually the 4th group out but a few other matches finished early (like mine ). It was 3 -2 when he went up the 1st/19th again & the only other game still left playing was on the 18th and was 1up to the others. Our player took that game down the 19th as well but lost the playoff hole.
