Course Doesn't Know When It Opens?

I have never seen anything like this; yesterday I made a tee-time online for two, this morning at 6 AM ( my father-in-law is a real early-bird, me, not so much ). It was the first time I had used that particular system, so last night I called and confirmed so we didn't waste a half-hour drive. The nice guy in the pro shop confirmed the 6 AM for 2.

We get there this morning at 5:45, and there's no one home. The pro shop is locked up, lights off. We wander around looking for anyone who works there for 10 minutes. The course is attached to a 'resort' ( just a glorified suburban hotel ) and luckily we catch a nice woman opening up the bar in the lounge adjacent to the 'shop. We explain our situation, and she gets on the phone and wakes someone up.

A while later, two guys in matching yellow golf shirts show up with an obviously-coffee-free young girl that they must have dragged-in from some other part of the hotel, and they open up and send us out.

They were surprised that we had a 6 am tee time, because they didn't think they opened until 7. Apparently they were the only ones who didn't get the memo, because the parking lot was filling up as we teed off. This is no dog track ( Pheasant Run in St Charles ), either, they usually get $80 for a weekend round.

How do you not know when your own course opens?

well if they were all young they probably were just hung over and were using that for an excuse for being late.

Did you book the time online? That has happened to me where the online service allows you a time earlier than the course opens as some courses are open then. As my crew usually walks and don't have to wait for carts, we just pay afterwards.
