Doctors say that you should eat 5 pieces of fruit or veg a day to remain healthy. Last week I ate 5 mouldy plums and that night I shat the bed. What's healthy about that?:shocked::shocked:
I've been wondering that myself.

I remember him saying that he had some rough business dealings. I hope things didn't go too far south. He's a good guy.

Hi all,
I am "bravo" (aka) John Bretz's daughter. I just couldn't help myself, but join this site, since he spent many hours involved with it and loved it so. My dad, sadly, committed suicide in July 2008. I think the strenuous pressure of his job and family affairs of his life took far too big a toll, and he just couldn't handle it anymore. However, the big guy had a lot of love to give and a lot of life and humor in him. And Golf was his passion... Anyway, thought I just might do a little investigating into the site and see what's here. I golf myself, but not nearly as much as he didNot sure if anyone will be able to read this post or not...Any funny golf memories you have to share with him or of him that he told, i'd love to hear.
Peace,
Catherine Bretz

So sorry to hear about your father. Thanks or sharing the "rest of the story" with us. One of the reasons shottalk has devoted members is golf is the general foundation for the community. The core reason for it's stability is the social interaction and friendships it has nurtured. Your Dad was a big factor in developing the positive environment.
Again thank you for your courage in connecting with us.

Catherine,
I'm very sorry to hear of the loss of your father, and my deepest sympathies to you and your family. John was a fantastic individual who certainly made me, and the rest of us here, laugh on more than the odd occasion. He was loved by all of us here at ST and may he never be forgotten. Thank you very much for notifying us of this sad event and I wish your welcome to Shottalk could be under much happier circumstances.
Rest In Peace, John 'Bravo' Bretz.
With respect
Nick

Catherine, my heart goes out to you and your family. I know what your going through as I lost my Mum august 2007...not a day goes by without me missing and thinking about her....there's not a lot people can say to make you feel better but it gets easier to cope with in time. Your Dad was a very Friendly man around here and was one of the 1st to welcome me to Shot talk...he will be missed around here for sure.
It's a 1st run FTi - Tour Issue he says.

Hi Catherine
I just didn't know. This is so sad. I had spoken to John a few times on the phone, he was all for organizing a big trip to Ireland to play golf some time in the future. I know he was upset when he missed the chance to go. I also know he was upset at having to give up his membership at his local club.
Your dad was a golf nut, a real nice guy, he always had fantastic stories to tell. But he also loved hearing from golfers all over the world. He did share with us all that he was having problems and I think he got a lot of encouragement and respect from this forum. He certainly loved his family and his dogs. He was always chasing that elusive round of golf, banging that Sonartec 3 wood further than his driver into the wind.
He will be missed round here and will be remembered as one of its founding fathers. Thanks for coming here and letting us know. Please stay a while, it is a friendly bunch of folk (except for Jeff!).
God bless
Mark

This is such sad news, and my heart goes out to you and you family, Catherine. Many times I talked about getting a group together for a golf outing in Alabama some day, mostly because I wanted to meet your dad. He seemed like a good man. I wish I'd made it happen.
Thanks for taking the time to let us know what happened. There were so many times I wondered. The news itself saddens me immensely, but I know life goes on, and I wish your family all the best.
