Long and limp, or short and stiff?

Would you rather play a long course that plays to a relatively low slope, or a short course that plays to a high slope? And why?

Personally, I'd prefer the Long and low, because on my good days I can bomb it on out there pretty good. But I have played both and enjoyed both types. I've yet to play one that was both long and had a high slope rating, and at my present skill level, it's probably best if I don't.

I personally prefer the short and difficult ones, it forces me to be more creative around the green as well and it doesnt feel like I am struggling to get there in reg. The course that I play is just a touch under 6500 yards but if they let the rough grow out and place the pins in tough spots (like they did for the course ryder cup this year) it can be on tough SOB.

Short course that plays to a high slope. I'm not huge off the tee so can't "bomb and gouge". I like the challenge some well designed short courses offer in regard to shot selection, club etc. Long courses are boring. And I wouldn't play a long course and high slope. Yikes. Although I did okay (shot below 100 for 18) on Brown Deer Park where the USBO is held in Milwaukee. That's kind of a cross between your two choices. Nice course.

Guess you don't ski much. I hated having to walk up those hills. I never did understand why people kept riding those stupid tram rides either. There's nothing to see up there...

Warm grassy places, far away from any hills. That's the place for me...

Hey, at my age, I resent any references to "short" or "limp"!! The attorneys from AARP will be making contact with you soon!!

I'll take the shorter and tougher course any day. I like a course where the mental game is just as important... or more important... than the sheer athletic ability. Courses that require long carries off the tee really disappoint me. If some of us are length challenged... or you have excellent long iron/hybrid skills... why should the driver be forced into our hand?

Long or short, give me a "thinking man's course" over a bomb and gouge course any day!!!

It doesn`t matter to me, course managment is the best part of my game so any stiff course will do.

I like short, difficult courses. Elevation changes, trees, etc.

For a low score? Long and limp, if the greens are limp as well.

For fun? Short and stiff, since I actually enjoy course management more than bombing it...sometimes.

For good feelings? Long and stiff, nothing like shooting low on a toughy.

Long or short--does not matter. Fast true green, well bunkered, and some character. Elevation changes a plus. Water does not get me excited. Usually means soggy fairways.
