Playing in a tournament. Need a little help

On Thursday I am playing in a State AM qualifier. 18 holes.

What are a few items I might want to have with me that I might not normally think about. We will be walking.

Drinks, lots and lots and lots of drinks. Banana or some fruit if you can think of it.

Keeping hydrated and somewhat nourished is essential.

Beyond that, make sure you have the essentials: divot tool, couple gloves, etc.

Other than that, its just another round of golf(like I should be talking), enjoy yourself, play well, and good luck!

Last year when I played in the Publinx I made a list (of course)......let's see.....

-latest copy of Rules of Golf
-yardage book for course
-two sets of clothes, underwear, and socks
-rain suit and umbrella.
-ball marker and divot tool
-Sharpie
-3 hats
-3 golf towels
-3 new gloves
-tees
-2 pairs of golf shoes.
-1 dozen marked golf balls.
-bug repellent.
-Imodium and Benadryl.
-frozen water and snack bars.
-chewing gum (I quit smoking)
-picture ID and cash in wallet
-spare set of clubs if you have them

Still played like shit.

OK,OK, it was TWO DOZEN!! But it was a 2 day tournament!

I was thinking more about what I'd need to get through a tournament (more like 6 dozen...)

At least you have the cojones to get out there and make a fool of yourself in front of strangers.

Thanks for the list. Being a one day event I will pare down it a bit.

Funny you guys talking about the dozen or two dozen balls. On Sunday I was marking one dozen and I was thinking what the heck am I doing.(the one ball rule is in effect) If I lose/use more than 3 balls there is no way I would qualify anyway.

I did put my two daughters' first initial for the mark though.

When I was loading up the car, the GF was looking at me like I was nuts. I wonder why? I did pare it down a bit for the next 2 day tourney....I left the spare set of clubs at home.....but I did take a spare driver and a spare putter.

The one ball rule is you have to play the same type of ball all throughout the round. Means if you start with a Pro V1x that is the one you play the entire round.

I have a dozen of the same. I was just saying why am I marking the whole dozen when if I have to use the whole dozen I would not qualify anyway.

Yeah, per USGA rules you're only supposed to use one type of ball per round.

I called someone on it Saturday, was suprised he did it. I wasn't going to call it but he was swearing I took a 5, when I took a 4. What can I say? I hit the ball once the same distance he hits it twice.
