Might flip the bag a bit.

No, I'm not talking about turning my mother upside down I'm thinking about pulling out the 2i and adding in a 3w. The courses I've been playing lately don't really call for my workability of the long iron, and I could use the 3w when my g10 acts up.
Anyone make a similar switch?
Does anyone know a good 3w head/shaft combo (preferably around or less than 650 complete)

Thanks all.

You can get a Maltby KE4 head for $25 and put the shaft of choice in. Best 3-wood I've ever hit.

Haha of all the clubs in the world, you want me to hit a 25 dollar club? Would look a little out of place in my bag. Any other options?

Don't dismiss this clubhead because it's cheap. You would be making a mistake.

I love my Callaway Steelhead 3 with a steel shaft. If you chose to try the "$25 club" you will be saving hundreds. I know that's not a lot to you, Mr. Trump, but I'd still consider it

Elitist much? Do you think Maltby equipment and other components are of inferior quality because they are less expensive? Because they are not.

Edit: I see you have a maruman majesty putter in the bag. I suggest you find a majesty prestigio 3 wood. That might be expensive enough for you.

I don't have anything against less expensive equipment, and I realize that just because a club is cheaper, doesn't mean its cheaper. For some reason or another I've just never really liked the middle of the pack manufacturers such as nickent, maltby, tour edge, etc. A lot of it has to do with the fact that I buy most of my stuff from my proshop which is a primary TM, Ping and Nike dealer/fitter.

TEE fairways will blow pretty much anything from TM, Ping, or Nike out of the water. If you get the club that doc suggested, you will still have 350 out of your 650 limit for whatever shaft you want.

What is your swing like? Transition? Release? We can't suggest anything until we know your swing characteristics. You could PM LyleG, he knows shafts pretty well.

No, but I carry both a 3w and a 2i ( and a 1i for that matter ). Do you really need four wedges there Mr Mickelson? Don't you have a huge driver->2i gap that is much larger than the wedge gaps? Isn't 3w->3i going to be similar?

You bring up a good point, but with each of my wedges, I can guarantee I'll smack an on within 5 yards of their regular distance. I hit the driver anywher from 260 to 310 depending on what shot i'm playing, which leaves me from pw-60* on a par 4 or a longer iron on a par 5. I don't really feel the effects of the gap in the long sticks unless I mutilate a drive.

Tour Edge Exotics CB2 is a WONDERFUL 3w, longer than any I have played. But again, its a Tour Edge so you might not like it...

310 yard drives... nothing longer than pitching wedge into par 4's... nothing more than a long iron to be on any par 5 in two... scratch capper... and all that while living in a geographical region with a shortened golf season. Wow!!! Quite an accomplished player! Youth, evidently, has its advantages.

From the above, I still am having difficulty understanding just where a 3 wood will be used. Tight par 4's off the tee? I would think you would find the slightly larger size head of an R7 or Sasquatch style could find the fairway easier than some of the smaller heads. Out of the rough when the 310 yard drive is some distance from the fairway and more than the typical long iron to be on in two? Callaway's sole designs have always had excellent reviews for escaping the gnarlly gunch. Adams fairways are low profile and are rated well out of the rough, but Adams isn't one of the "majors" you name. Do you need something to work tight doglegs off the tee? Titty's are known for their ability to be worked both ways in the hands of the more skilled players.

The Tour Edge Exotics has rec'd awesome reviews for distance, but it sounds like distance isn't one of your challenged areas.

Map a few rounds on paper. Make good notes as to where you "need" what is currently envisioned to be a 3 wood. You may find a hybrid would be more beneficial than a fairway wood.

At your level of play, each club can be quite well defined as to the role it is to play in strengthening your game. A framing hammer isn't the best tool to install trim around the living room door. A tack hammer makes it difficult to drive spikes. Either, when utilized for their intended purpose performs well in the hands of a good carpenter. My wife, for instance, couldn't drive nails with either one!!! Give us some additional data as to the specific job this new "tool" is to perform.
