Final Qualifying-Hillside

Watched the back 9 of Danny Willett and Jean Van De Velde at Hillside today, was a joy to watch golf up close in its raw form, Willett played well but slipped up at the last with a double, Van De Velde struggled to find the fairways but scored 73, Willett scored 75 and missed by two but had many chances to take during the round but didnt convert, He had the ping prototype irons in his bag badged up as G10's they looked sweet!. I really like Willetts swing, very simple and not a lot of moving parts.

Tough conditions but deserving qualifiers.

It's tough up here today. I live up at Fleetwood and it's been very windy. Willett has some game. He's a very solid player. Something for young lads to aspire to!

Who else was up there? Do you know many of the pro's from my Blackpool area?

Local Final Qualifying (LFQ)
That should provide you with any results

Nice nice. none of our lads got anywhere near final. shame really. I'm quite looking forward to seeing how some of those 12 names get on during the Open. I'll make sure I get their names in case they make the weekend, so I can see them when I get down there on Final Day.

This guy just narrowly missed out...

Even I'd fancy doing better than that.

IG, that's insane. My pro was telling me that you gotta be off've scratch or better to enter. This was because a few years ago some guy from Aus got through local qualifying in Aus from some club no-one had ever heard of etc. He turned up with a hat with corks dangling from it and shot about +40 in one round at final qual... Hence the rule changed. I could do better than +39 over 36 holes...! You wanna enter with me next year...?

Another blast from the past had Philip Walton qualify from West Lancashire yesterday... delighted for him, a genuinely nice guy
