Thread: sweet little perk

  1. sweet little perk

i was pleasantly surprised earlier today when i logged on to my email and sitting in my inbox was invite from subaru of america to join them at the half moon bay golf links. pretty sweet deal; breakfast, 60 minute clinic with with a teaching pro followed by range time and a shotgun tourney, all complimetary of subaru! the only catch was that space was limited to the first 100 applicants. needless to say, i rushed to register and am pleased to announce that i got in.

hopefully i won't stink the place up too bad! one thing for sure is that this will officially be the nicest place i've played to date!

    check out the courses
    www.halfmoonbaygolf.com

moral of the story is that it pays to register the things you buy!

one more thing i feel compelled to say... go buy a subaru!

    Nice links course!

Did you buy that Impreza WRX?

  3. #3
I opted for the Mazda 3 GT Sport instead of the Impreza. No flash in the Impreza.

Aound of golf would have sweetened the deal tho....

Sweet deal Chemboy. I registered my SUV and got an insulated coffee mug.

Rock, your getting a Mazda & a Cayenne? That new contract must be something. You da man! :groupwave

  6. not too good to be true

so i was paranoid that i was missing the fine print and that this day would cost me an arm and a leg. i called the event company and, nope, subaru is footing the entire tab.

oh, nam, the first shot will be for you guys... the next 100+ will be all mine!

rock, i'll be the first to admit that subies aren't known for being sexy cars. that's actually one of the reasons my wife and i disagree on the car so much but you see, i'm damn near as square as the car. :(

besides, i have an affinity with things just off center of norm. i just bought an entire set of adams clubs for crying out loud!

    Chem,

I meant no offense there. The Subaru is a great car. To be honest, the reason we didn't buy one is that the place that sells them in town is waaaay too pushy when it comes to sales. I hate that feeling. I want to be able to decide what I want to drive, not decided by someone else.

It's too bad that Suba would have more sales if it weren't for them...

    Dave,

The Mazda is just for showing off. I live in the Cayenne....

  8. no offense taken

none taken, rock. however, even if you did mean some offense, you guys could never even begin to come close to the crap i take from my own wife when it comes to that car. (it is definitely my car!) you can only imagine how big of an eyeroll i got last night when i told her i was playing in a golf tourney put on by subaru. talk about a twofer!

    That's gold!

    What colour did you get?

I like the AWD in the Subaru, but it really has no frills. Not that i need my car to be "pimped", but i guess everyone has their own likes and dislikes.

I also look to the resale of the car. Cars that are loaded definitely go for more than those that aren't. I've been lucky over the last few years having cars that had just about everything, and gotten good money for them, either from insurance or selling them....

I guess Mazda has a new Mazda 5 wagon coming out. Same idea as the PT Cruiser in terms of size, but it seats 7. And rumour has it that the 6 is going to AWD next year....

I used to be a Honda guy, but their designing went to ****. They really need to pull up their boot straps before the get lapped by Toyota, Mazda and even Hyundai.

Hyundai and Toyota design over Honda?!?! :repuke:

No way. Toyota is just as plain jane as they've ever been and Hyundai looks like they have five year-olds draft the models.

So did you get a Cayenne or what? I'm so confused.

  11. #11
Agreed. I hate Hyundais too, but they have alot of stuff coming out in the next 5 years that will blow people's minds.

Honda's look pretty cut and dry, and I'm a hardcore Honda advocate.

The Cayenne is strictly a pipe dream. I'd be fortunate enough to afford the free desktop.

    Dream list:

    2005 Infinity FX45, black, 5 speed
1996 Porsche 911 Twin Turbo, silver, 6 speed
    2005 BMW M3 CSL, silver
1996 Mitsubishi Skyline, metallic blue (J-spec)
1996 Lotus Esprit 4 cyl twin turbo
    2005 Mercedes S500 V12

Anyone have any of the above they wanna give away?

    I have a 1995 Porsche 911 Twin Turbo. Since you're looking for a '96, I guess I'll keep it.

Just outta curiousity, how old are you, Rock?

I just wanted to see if my mental picture was anywhere close to reality. I was thinking somewhere in the high twenties, low thirties.

You don't happen to wear fishnets and go-go boots to work, do you?

    Buddha,

Please keep away from the window of my Cayenne. What I do outside Shot Talk is none of your business.
