Phil the Thrill

I know a bunch of you boys don't like him, but a piece I read in my local paper this morning put a smile on my face.

Seems that both Tiger and Phil were playing practice rounds at Baltusrol yeaterday AM, and ended up playing the last two holes together, which I thought was different. Publicity play?

No matter. The best part of the article, though, described how the two of them went through their practice rounds. Tiger went through with Haney and a local caddy and played 36 in 5 1/2 hours (off the course before noon). The caddy said that Tiger was "very generous."

Phil, on the other hand, played a practice round with the head pro at the club, picking his brain about strategy/tactics on each hole. They had a little side wager going, and it turns out Phil took $20 off the pro.

After spotting him six strokes.

On his home course.

Did I mention that this was the head pro?

Oh yeah, and that Phil had never played the course before. It was his first round.

Ouch.

So Tiger's caddy got a round in with Elin too?

"Very generous."

That speaks volumes.

If they were playing together, maybe Phil got a little "back nine" action from El Tigre.

Think about it.

Well, it brings up a whole new use for that head cover...and explains why he changes it regularly.
