Thumbs up School of Golf - Hilton Head Island

After some night putting, I was trolling the Golf Channel's "On Demand" selections, and I noticed that they will have a new series called "School of Golf - Hilton Head Island" this Fall.

I watched the sneak preview and it looks REALLY good.

If you don't have On Demand, you can view the sneak preview video here:

And here is the press release:
'School of Golf' to debut in September on GC - July 15, 2008

'School of Golf' to debut in September on GC - 07/15/2008

By GOLF CHANNEL Newsroom ORLANDO, Fla. -- GOLF CHANNEL has begun production on a new series scheduled to premiere in September, which will showcase the lives of future golf stars under the tutelage of one of the world’s most acclaimed swing coaches.

School of Golf: Hilton Head Island will be a real-life series that will follow the lives of young men and women who live and learn at the Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy (IJGA) in Hilton Head, S.C., a place where talented young golfers try to balance the demands of golf competition at the highest level with the normal stresses of teen life, including academics.

“The students at Hank Haney IJGA all have tremendous stories to tell, and are great stories themselves,” said Jay Kossoff, GOLF CHANNEL executive producer of Original Productions. “They’re passionate about why they are there, and they take very seriously the concept of trying to become world class athletes. Sometimes, we almost forget that they’re still young and trying to figure out who they are.”

Hank Haney, swing coach for Tiger Woods, is the academy’s director of instruction, and the series will showcase how Haney and his team make huge improvements in the technical and mental aspects of the students’ games.

“When GOLF CHANNEL’s cameras start capturing these talented young men and women on film, I believe viewers will be as impressed with them as I am,” said Haney. “It’s really a privilege to work with the golf stars of tomorrow at the IJGA.”

Hank Haney IJGA has granted show producers complete access to real-life ups and downs faced by teenagers from all over the world who have chosen to live at the academy to pursue their dreams. Balancing good grades and good golf can be an extreme challenge for the teenagers who are impressionable, eager to be popular while away from home for the first time.

Ray Travaglione, founder and chief executive officer of the Hank Haney IJGA, said he was “thrilled to partner with the GOLF CHANNEL in this endeavor. The series will showcase the passion of the outstanding student-athletes who attend the Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy.”
