You Know What? I'm irritated.

DIVOTS! They happen, its golf. You can fill them with sand or grass but they will always be there.

Why isn't there a rule like "lift, clean and place" with the consensus of your group that if a ball ends up in a divot, you can move it? I had a perfect layup on a tough par 5 today and guess what? Bottom of a deeeeeeep divot. I was so bugged. I still parred but with the layup it would have been an easy birdie.

We have a consensus in my group but you'd have to come to TX.

I'm off work for now though, and will be for about 2 months.

I wouldn't mind a rule for allowances of redropping or placing a ball if you end up in a divot. Its unreasonably punishing.

I had it happen the other day as well. I layed up off the tee with a 3W then a 5i dead on the 100marker, into a nasty divot. I hit it into a huge swale mound 15yds. in front of me then yanked a SW from a lie where I could barely see the ball in knee high grass. Double from 100 with a perfect backstop pin position.

OK, if you land in a divot you can move your ball. Yeah, that's right, just move it! You will burn in hell for all of eternity, but c'mon, it's worth it, right? I'm sorry but I would never, ever roll my ball, ever! Ummm, do you think that's why I've never broken 90? I may die with my best round being a 92, but although I have killed many people I have NEVER cheated in golf so I know I'm going to heaven. There is no one, and I mean NO ONE that has been able to use the angelic smilie twice in one post!

Ah loft, you're a riot. Honestly, I didn't move it, I wanted to, but I didn't.

not as bad as when the fix them wrong because you can't fix them after that.

divot tool towards the center, not lifting. not too hard of a concept.

my.biggest.pet.peeve.right.now.

I was considering starting a thread on the issue. It would help if they would start making pitch mark tools that don't encourage the incorrect method.

I'm considering ordering a gross of those GreenFix tools and handing them out. Those things are almost idiot proof.

I just wish they made them without the fat "ball marker" end

And in the event someone runs across this post and isn't sure what I am talking about, here is a short video. (and no, that isn't me. just a vid I found on youtube.)

yep. my friend started doing it wrong, and I almost beat him with my putter. nothing worse than a nice 30 foot lag being thrown off by a dead spot.

his responce "my tee has one prong, your divot tool has two. different techniques"
