What is the most difficult shot for you?

I just made this thread for some to come in and put what shot is most difficult for them, why, and how they play it mostly.

This will allow others with this as maybe one of their strengths to help and give advice.

Mine: My least favorite shot that tends to give me trouble is slightly off the fringe in a little bit heavier stuff chipping, with a small amount of green to work with.

I mostly play my 60* or 56* wedge in the back of my stance and almost use a putting stroke to get it out.

I have tested with a PW and up and it seems like I either catch the ball with the bottom of the club or put too much roll on it.

I have read where some folks advocate using a hybrid in the situation you mention.

Red face all of them?

honestly, ya, I think so many of the shots are tough! Probably the toughest shot for me is a long breaking putt; i'm talking 40+ footer. Usually, if your looking at that putt it's likely for birdie or par, which makes it all the more fustrating. You want to get that tight, and not get the dreadful three putt on a GIR.

can I get an amen from the congregation....

?

toss up between having a down hill lie (which really sucks when if I had used a 6 iron instead of a 5 I would have been on flat ground with an 8 iron the green) and playing a draw.

For the first I found it better to put the ball back further to make sure I'd hit down on it more since I really needed it up in the air, and being a down hill lie hitting down isn't as mch as on flat or up hill. The ball really flew, and actuallycame within a foot of hitting the pin.

The second one for me I have trouble with just useind a closed club face. I am often forced to try to use an in to out swing, and Its still really hard for me to pull it off correctly. I do manage to hit a controlled slice nicely though. Its always fun to go to the range and hit slices over 50 yards that then go dead straight from there.

When I end up with this shot, I have found that I get the best results when I take some sort of a wedge (generally the pitching wedge) and just blade it like a putt. However, if you are talking about deep rough, then it wont work as well.

As for me, I cant think of just one shot that gives me the most trouble.

King Par is an unknown quantity at this point
3 wood off the deck or the little soft shots, like 20 yards out.

Small 30-40 yard shots or a lie that's above my feet. I can never seem to get that one right.

I struggle with a bunch of shots.
In my last round, I was faced with:
1) 30yrds downhill lie in the rough
2) long sand shot with downhill lie and with the ball slightly below my feet
3) tee shot on #13 (a downhill 265 yrd par 4 that has a sign on the tee that says something like "If a player attempts to carry the green or cross the pond with their drive it will result in the current round and future rounds being suspended for that player and their entire group" - it was the most ridiculous thing I've read on a golf course and it was very difficult to tee off with a 7 iron after reading that)

Shot requiring a gentle draw. A big draw I can do, but a I tend to over cook.

for the shots above your feet I always choke up and swing just a tad harder. Its like having a club cut down to use on that lie.

and for balls within 5 yards of the green I do a 3/4/5/6 iron putt. my coach taught me this and its like putting with a bit more loft so the ball will clear the longer grass more easily.

Me as well with the long putts. I spent about an hour working with my new putter on 2 putting the long ones so hopefully it will pay off and help a bit

If doing this to try to draw your iron shots the set up regular to the ball and place your club about 1"-2" behind the ball w/ the face of the club a little open. Then overlap your grip and do your normal swing. IMO it is much easier than a closed faced in to out swing.
