The difference in lag

I went out today JUST trying to add more lag to my golf swing. I hit the ball a good ways to start with. I just did this 1 thing and everything felt so smooth and I was hitting it further. Even flew a 150 yard hole with a wedge on a day where the wind was non existant. I just timed it to where my weight started shifting forward around the same time that I was at the top of my back swing. Is this going to work? Sorry I guess I'm a lag noob

yeah thats another thing. I didnt hit that wedge thin either. It was kinda dark and I asked where it was and it was off the back a good ways. Everything just finally felt right for the first time in like 2 weeks

Sounds like you're doing it right. Just keep doing what you're doing as long as it works.

One consistent way to get a good lag is start your wrist**** right away at the start of the backswing. It promotes a nice shoulder turn and the lag comes pretty naturally without thinking about it. But I'm a hacker... might not want to listen to me.

I've always been a long hitter ever since I was 13 and my first hole in one. I had a BIG problem with my early wrist ****. Dad was always on my ass about it and I guess it just dissapeared

The key to developing lag is to remember that the two stages of the golf swing start from completely different areas. The backswing builds from the hands to the arms to the shoulders to the hips finally to the knees and maybe feet. The downswing is exactly the opposite. It starts from the knees (feet if you lift your lead heel) to the hips to the shoulders with the hands (wrists) the last thing to release from their backswing position. I was having some problems with this so I started working on it with this drill.

Stand with your feet together toes pointing towards where you want to hit the ball with the ball about a normal distance from the outside of what is usually your back foot. Think croquet with this one you are swinging while always facing your target. Take a few swings you should feel like you are driving through the ball with your right hip clearing before your right shoulder. Then simply take your normal stance and try to repeat that feeling of clearing your RT hip before your RT shoulder and you will create tons of lag.
