Our club champ is coming up this weekend. I have no chance... but the guy who has been champ for 10 years running got hurt a few weeks ago... might be interesting!

We have at least 3 "championships" and 4 (or 5) if you are old enough.

We have the straight up 36-hole medal play club champion. I finished T-4 this year.

We also have the season-long individual match-play champion. I am in the finals for the first time winning 5&4, 3&2, and 6&5. I am waiting for the other side of the bracket to finish their match to play me.

Then there is the doubles match-play championship.

We have a guy at our club that has swept all three at least twice that I can think of.

Then if you are over 50 they have the Sr. Club championship which is held a separate weekend. 36 holes medal play. The Super Senior (65 and up) is held at the same time. So you could win the Sr. Club and Super Senior all in the same tourney.

I don't think anyone has swept all 5.

I stunk the place up in our club tournament this year. I wasn't in the champion flight but finished tied for 5th in the 1st flight. I shot a real bad 84, I had a 4 putt, I hit my ball taking a practice swing on a chip and to top it all off I missed a putt that might have been inside 1 ft. It sucked because I was hitting the ball great that day tee to green.

Yeah before last, but they ended up doing it gross and only about 10 of us shot under 80.

Wasn't really anything special, just kind of neat.

Our club use to have two CLub C's, one stroke play and one match play. I won the match play one in 2006.

I also won the Club C at a real crappy course I use to belong to in 1999. Not much of a comp though, I shot 5 over for 2 days and still won by 6 LOL.

I won the junior club at my home course in high school, and came in T-2 with about 5 other guys in the regular club championship. The winner beat us all tying the course record not once but twice in a day. It was something to watch though. As the junior club I was paired with him, and I have never seen anyone drive that many par 4s in one round.

I lost mine this year by a single shot after the bloke nailed a 30-footer on the last hole.
I won one at my old club back in 2002, but like Lyle, wasn't a huge amount of competition. Only one bloke to beat and made a great up an down on the last to hold him off. Very drunk 17 year old that night!!!

I was the Handicap (Net) Champion in 1989. That's about it. I've won my flight a few times over the years, but I've never had the game to play in the 1st flight, and you have to play gross and win in that flight to be the club champ.

Twice. At the course that I grew up playing. 21 years apart. When I was 17 and when I was 38. Did not play every year. I have left and gone back a few times. Right now, I am in a "left" phase.

Match play only. They have a weird setup and put the top 64 guys in a random draw. You have to be lucky to win six matches over the course of the summer and be lucky to have enough good guys meet each other and knock each other out. They have done it that way forever, but it is goofy.

The last time was particularly crazy. The course is owned by the city and they shut down for six weeks in mid-summer because of a strike. We finally finished the match play in early November. The temperature was plus 3 Celsius (about 40 degrees) and it snowed during the round. Shot plus 3 on my ball in one of the best rounds I have ever played under the conditions in the morning, led by 7 at the turn and won 12 and 11. I think my opponent was more relieved than competitive. He did back his way into the final a bit too as the kid he was slated to play in the semi-final had to forfeit as he had to return to school.

Somewhat anti-climactic, as the Club C is usually on Labour Day weekend and a big deal. There was no one around other than the assistant pro that day.
