They're just a good, solid club. The spin milled varieties spin like crazy.

For me they are just easy to hit. Sole and bounce are good for my swing. I started out with Mizuno MPT's, those were good as well. I tried the MPR's, those were terrible for me.

Pro's Choice

I think they are popular because they are played by a lot of pro players... although that being said, I believe the top choice among the tour players right now are the cleveland wedges.

I have not put them in play myself, but I think that's the deal. My cousin uses them, he's about an -8; he plays the 52 and SM58 i believe. He loves them. I like my cleveland's better. I've also heard good things about the Ping's and Nike SV's.

At the end of the day it's all about personal preference....

A.

history. Bob Vokey has been putting wedges in the pros hands for many years. it flowed over the main stream- and just a sought after wedge with a big name. function- they are simple looking and work well.

They are popular because they work very well. Ive got 52* and 60* 200-Series Vokeys and they work great.
I play rock-hard distance balls and I spin the heck out of them.

i dont think that an average player would really benefit from them, but then again im not so sure. some of These golfers on Shottalk probably know why there so popular, but the average player doesnt put spin on the ball, on purpose.

I've tried lots and lots and lots and lots of wedges. Vokeys are in my bag right now. Why? They're the best wedges I've hit so far. Subtle design differences mean a lot to how a wedge plays. Whatever Titleist does with these, they work.

Pretty simple really.

The only real beef I have with Vokeys is that they are cast, not forged. I can tell a difference in feel from my cast Vokeys to my forged Mizuno MP-T.
Supposedly, Bob Vokey doesnt think that there is a difference in feel in wedges from cast to forged, but I personally disagree with him. Obviously, he is going to downplay the importance of forgings because his clubs arent forged.

My favorite wedges before my Vokeys were forged Srixons. The Vokeys feel softer to me. Go figure.
