hmmm......

Ok, I'm using my time with a bad wrist to get very fit, strong and supple, and get a great short game. Well thats the plan. One of the excersises is a full swing with just my right arm and a weighted club. Its hard, very hard, but its keeping me supple and at least feeling close to my swing.

Until I recently read Harrington can hit the ball 300 with one arm, both as it happens, left and right. I now feel humble, I've given up keeping fit and have just started on the beer again

So if Harrington can hit it 3 bills with one arm, from both sides, why then cant he hit it 300 when he uses both arms together? His driving distance for the year is only 296.

I hope you don't regret selling the Grinds. You put so much time into them, it's a real shame you have to let them go.

Good luck getting fit again.

I was going to ask that, too. But on the other hand, I played a round with my brother-in-law yesterday. He's not a good golfer; hits the most wicked hooks imaginable with his driver, and the best shot in his bag is a 170y skulled wedge from 100.

On about 15, he started talking about trying to hit with one hand, 'cause it couldn't be worse. On 16, a 168y par three, he tried it. He's right-handed, and took his normal stance, but held the club with just his right ( back ) hand, and proceeded to hit the best iron I've ever seen him hit. A beautiful high draw, that just missed right. He has never hit any ball that high, except maybe a pop up drive. We were stunned, and made him try it again. He did it again! Aimed a little further left, and just barely missed the green, with the same beautiful shot.

Maybe Harrington is better with just one hand, too?

I'll admit, I've done the same thing before..

I was at the range, and was just trying things out.. I took one hand, held the club, and swing full.

By doing so, you don't have your other hand messing things up, and you get a FULL release from your wrist. Only because you can't stop the club from swinging through.. It's a good way to practice feeling the hinge release in the swing.

I launched a 4i once like that on the course, just messing around. It was a beautiful shot.

yeah but 296 is an average on tour, which may include 3 woods and certainly includes one hole into the wind, plus they may not always be able to let it fully rip due to how tight it is

on the range, no inhibitions, one hand, Bob Torrance says he can get it out there which each arm
