Thread: Hitting everything high, losing distance

  1. Hitting everything high, losing distance

Hi all. I'm relatively new here and any advice is appreciated. Recently I started playing more frequently (I took a few years off) and I'm hitting everything sky high and losing distance. For example I used to hit a 7-iron 165-170, now I'm lucky if I hit it 150.

My old irons had a TT Dynalite shaft so a local shop reccommended getting a shaft with a higher bend point. So I purchased a new set with TT Dynamic shafts. I'm hitting the ball better, but still losing some distance.

Has anyone else had this problem? What did you do to fix it?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  2. I had this problem and still do from time to time. What I was doing was taking up a stance that put the ball farther forward than it should have been so I ended up getting a ton of loft and therefore losing distance. It was especially bad with my short irons.

    Just my two bits.

Could be a million and one things in your swing.Go see a pro before you waste any money on new gear.Thatrs providing you can't mess about on the range first.

If you can bend your clubs you can bend the loft stronger so you will hit the ball lower and longer. This is a cheap alternative to new clubs.

  5. Move the ball one ball's distance back. Don't change your swing. You'll have a much better chance of hitting the ball before you're bringing the club back up, which is the ultimate goal in golf.

Professionals make divots the size of Rhode Island on nearly every iron they hit. That's because they catch the ball while the club is still coming down. The ball comes of the club before the club even hits the ground, but they swing right through. Moving the ball back a little bit will help you hit the ball coming down, or at least level to the ball.

    Good luck

Sorry but most professionals don't take divots the size of islands, they take long shallow divots unless they are smacking down hard on a wedge

  7. There are plenty of pros out there who take absolutely no divot at all, you just don't see them on TigerTV
